Yes the the Schlumpf isn't going to slow you down
Hi Larry,
I can concur you are not going to knock a lot of speed off a Trike with the IGH especially since the weight of the trike is already high. This is not an idle speculation opinion. This trike was built for descending and flat ground sprinting.
http://mylifeinrecline.com/gallery/black-cat-named-cadence/18227881 It holds a few records in this area and the engine is vastly out of shape. There is a MD on the front and a 7lb N360 in the rear wheel. I can assure you it descends at 50mph under pedal powe prior to spin out; goes up hill at 11-14mph and can flat line sprint at 26-29mph. I had no hesitation putting that drive train on it; and I admit I did it to prove the point.
In doing that we got a ton of experience with the SD, HSD and MD from Schlumpf.
For the other that expressed interest here is my thoughts on what we learned.... that MIGHT apply here.
Looking at the photos of the Vendetta bottom bracket configuration I am not sure there would be enough clearance to mount a Schlumpf on the front. The housing of a Schlumpf drive align to the Bottom Tube face with a large diameter gear house; a large spacer would be required to off set the BB insert by the width of a GXP cup screw cap. That would miss align the q-factor on the cranks and give you a largely off center alignment. I might try it on a Silvio or Quest but not on a V. My next build is going to be a V and I have considered this long and hard; and I will be going with a chain cruncher. The wife will be getting a Silvio and we might consider an MD there. If anyone gets some photos of it working on a cruzbike I would love to look them over and talk to you.
Lastly for a faster bike; you really want a Mountain Drive and not the SD or HSD which make more sense on small wheel; specialized bikes. If want more details PM me and I would be happy to bore you with the details.
