Shapeways 3D Printing

I recently discovered this site. They have some very interesting products for cyclists.

Fly6 Adapters - http://www.shapeways.com/search?q=Fly6&type=

Garmin Adapters - https://www.shapeways.com/search?q=Garmin+Quarter+Turn&type=product

I plan to use this Ram Mount http://tinyurl.com/zuwoyrv for my Garmin Edge 1000, mounted on the boom close to the handlebars, using this Garmin Edge Quarter Turn Male Mount To GoPro Male Adapter
http://tinyurl.com/jrg2lvf .

I plan to use two of these Ram Mounts http://tinyurl.com/jg7herv , one with my Fly12 (which has a built in GoPro adapter) mounted up front on a Terra Cycle Multi-Purpose Accessory Mount https://t-cycle.com/-p-31.html ) attached to the light mount by the bottom bracket of the bike.

The other Ram Mount will be used to mount my Fly6 on the headrest in the rear, using this Cycliq Fly6 GoPro Mount Adapter http://tinyurl.com/z2th6xr . For those of us who have secretly cursed the original FLY6 mount for its inflexibility, this offers some great mounting potential.

The Ram Mounts are a bit heavy, but they provide an incredibly strong platform and flexibility that no other mounting options provide. I will also be including these for security http://tinyurl.com/zsuthub and also using M5 x 25mm 0.8 mm Thread Pitch, Torx Pan Head Machine Screws, to secure the GoPro adapters.

I am currently in communication with the Shapeway folks trying to get them to make me a Garmin Edge Quarter Turn Male Mount to Ram 1" ball Adapter. Until then, I will have to keep removing my Garmin Edge 1000 from the bike when I have to leave the bike unattended for "breaks".

What do you think? Am I insane? o_O

Nice list; but save yourself the hassle on the the mount for the Fly12. Get this one and put it on the nose of the the bike. I've already sized it with the Fly12 on my bent and it's a great fit. http://axiaalloys.com/Misc-Accessories/Gopro-Camera-Mount-Satin-Clear-Black Pictures this weekend, building the swingset for the kids is eating all my time.

I actually have that one so I'd like to see the pictures. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get the Fly12 far enough forward to keep my feet out of the video.

3D printing gives amateurs an opportunity to make professional-looking bits. Mounts for lights, cameras and other things specifically for various CruzBikes might be nice and useful.

For example, I'm not really happy with any of my camera mounts. The ball head tripod mount I've got is kind of bulky. The K-Edge Go Big Camera Bike Mount is pretty nice except it doesn't leave enough clearance for me to plug in an external battery pack into my Sony HDR-AS200V camera, which has a micro-USB jack on the bottom, and I need maybe two mm more of clearance for a right-angle plug. Hmm... I wonder if I can just bend it a bit. I've also considered shaving off a bit of the insulator. But maybe design and have Shapeways print one in aluminum would be a nice choice.

If anyone is interested, I've been talking to one of the 3D Designers at Shapeways. He has a mounting solution that might be of use to those of us with a Garmin Edge 1000. It would combine a female quarter turn adapter with center recess for an M5 screw and a 1" Ram Ball with threads.

Sorry read this on the go and then forgot to answer. I usually get my feet in the photos; but the field of vision is so wide I just crop them out of the find edits.

Did you ever get a chance to take some pics? I'd like to see where you have your Fly12 mounted.

I did; and then before I transferred them to the computer; I replaced that phone and lost them. The unit since went back to the guy that I borrowed it from
