Silvio 2.0 Photoshoot Gallery

John has asked me to take some photos of my Silvio 2.0 to be used on the product page website. I have finished doing so and am posting the larger pictures here, especially for those who are considering purchasing a Silvio 2.0 so you can investigate the parts and design. Pictured is a Silvio 2.0 with 100mm chainstay extension, full SRAM Force WiFli 2013 groupset (53/39 chainrings and 11-32 cassette), with American Classic 420 Aero 3 wheelset. The only item not purchased through Cruzbike.com is the wheelset.

You can view the pictures online, or download all images in a single zip file by clicking what looks like "V" on top-right and selecting "Download Album." This will download the highest quality images (2048x1366), which are higher resolution than what appears in your web browser

Silvio 2.0 Photoshoot Gallery on Google Plus

Photos were taken with a Leica D-Lux 5 and cleaned up in Photoshop so if you see any anomalies in this Google Plus gallery that shouldn't be there, feel free to tell me which one and I will try and fix it for future users.

Amazing Work

Ivan, I have to say that I think you have the best looking Silvio I have ever seen and your photos do this fine machine the justice it deserves. I can imagine that anyone considering the Silvio would be convinced to buy one based on how you have shown yours.

You know, between the Silvio and the Leica, you have some pretty nice "toys". :)

Ivan - I've followed your excellent build documentation. Did you mention what the final weight is?

Well Andrew, the Leica

Well Andrew, the Leica belongs to a family member and we did the photoshoot together. While it's not mine, I have easy access to good cameras from a photography loving family!

Randy, I weighed in my Silvio at 12.0kg including Shimano A600 pedals. This is in line with Cruzbike's estimate of 11.5-12.5kg without pedals, depending on components. Did you migrate all your components including chainstay extension from Silvio 1.0 to 2.0?

Thanks Charles, heh heh... who would be averse to such a suggestion!? :) I'd have to get hold of some carbon wheels for photos of Vendetta to do her pedigree justice!

Excellent work Ivan...regarding your Vendetta comment, I was going to say the same about your Silvio. Although I LOVE the look of your wheels, CB ought to send you a set of theirs for the photo shoot so that they are marketing their bike AND their wheels.

Ivan...are you running a 10

Ivan...are you running a 10 speed or 11 speed set-up? If the 11 speed, I sure would like to know where you scored the WiFLi kit???? I have been trying to get the Force 11-32 cassette and a Red RD but so far, no luck through my dealer and QBP.

12kg

Ivan - No, I'm staying with my 1.0. Mine is heavier 32lbs. (14.5 Kg?). I was just wondering if 2.0 is significantly lighter. Not sure why mine is so heavy, it's a very early 1.0.

Larry, nope - I'm running the 10 speed so can't help you there. I got my components through Cruzbike. Re the wheels, since I'm in Asia (Singapore), shipping stuff back/forth is a tad more prohibitive than it is for most of you guys...

Wheels

If you go to the Silvio 2.0 picture thread you will see Silvios with the Cruzbike wheels. What really sets Ivan's off is the wheels and the addition of red and a lot of white on the rims. Ivan's wheels are sort of bling for a Silvio. The bladed rims work well for the Vendetta to make it look mean and fast. Is that worth the extra Shekels for the aero bladed carbon wheels. Something like the Fast Forward 5 (esp), Corima 4 spoke, Xentis, Zipp 303/404, HED 3 or if you want to stick to SRAM, the SRAM S80 might look ok.

For the Silvio, FFWD F4R-C 240S full carbon DT Swiss wheels have bling appeal.

Ivan Stylin'

@Ian Smith: You are right about Ivan's wheels, but I imagine he'll ride by so fast that all you'll see is a blur. ANOTHER Silvio worth noting is the "all black Silvio"; one of my favorites. The stealth look would be even better with all carbon rims or disc brakes - no brake track to break up all the sleek, sexy blackness.

That's right. I said sexy.

It may not be immediately

It may not be immediately apparent from the pictures but the aluminium brake track on the 420 Aero 3 wheelset is unusually narrow. One has to very carefully position the brake pads on installation. Some don't like this about the wheelset, but it contributes to their lightness and, in my subjective opinion, the good looks as there is no large braking surface for the eye to fall on. Being an aluminium wheelset they are also cheaper and easier to maintain than carbon. As an all weather cyclist I prefer not to have to deal with carbon brake surfaces. I also want a wheelset that can be hung on a wall hook. These aero rims are fine, while 54mm wheels are just too wide! The wheels pictured are actually used. I got them for US$440, including the very new Conti GP4000s tyres so not much extra shekels/denarii.
