So my kit came yesterday, sunday the 25th, now for the donor..

So I havent been able to find a Tiara in the store, but have come across a 26" woman's Mongoose Bedlam

The lowest point on the cross bar is 24"

Also looked at the Pacific Chromium

The lowest point on the cross bar is 23"

My concern as I looked at these is the upsweep of the cross bar.

Do you folks think either of these will work?

From what I've read by John and Doug in various threads, I think your concerns about the upsweep on these two bikes are valid.

Found the donor...and it's a Tiara

So I've been looking for awhile now trying to find the donor for my kit. I've looked at probably 10 different bikes and was not happy with any of them. Came across an ad on craig's list for a Tiara and ran out and bought it as soon as I checked it out. It's a seldom ridden bike, guy bought it for his wife and she rode it half a dozen times and it's been sitting ever since. It's in real nice shape.

I'll be taking it completely apart to clean everything, re-grease it all, and paint the frame before putting it back together using the kit. I'll post some pics as soon as I get started on the rebuilding. The next few days I'll be tearing it all down. As much as I want to get riding, figured I'll take my time and do it as right as I can. Don't want to build and tear down over and over (yeah right, like that's gonna happen, wife sez I fix everything, even if it don't need fixin').

BTW, while I was looking for the donor, I had hit up Walmart, they said they had a Tiara in stock. Went to buy and come to find out, the Tiara is now sharing a UPC code with a newer bike. The department manager said they are phasing out the Tiara as of the beginning of this year. If this is true, then ya'll may want to be on the lookout for a new base donor for building your first kit from. I know it can be and has been used on a number of bikes, but it kinda seems like alot of first bikes built were the Tiaras.
