Alright mister let the trainer wars begin
Of course you get more for the KICKR. At 46 pounds, it weighs 12 pounds more than your wimpy 34 pound Lemond Revolution so if we both did bench presses with our trainers I would get more of a workout mister!
Or if I dropped my KICKR on your head it would hurt you more than if you dropped your Revolution on mine.
Kidding...
Actually Dan,
your post about the Lemond Revolution was what resulted in my deciding on the KICKR.
I really liked the Revolution but when I started researching reviews and such online, the KICKR started popping up in the search results because of the rough similarity with the Revolution using a cassette and resistance.
What tilted the decision for me is the built-in power meter in the KICKR along with the ability to control resistance and the open API for Bluetooth Smart (low power blue tooth) connectivity and iPhone support. Like the Revolution, I can purchase a cassette to mount on the KICKR that exactly matches what I have on my Vendetta so I can train with the same stuff I will be competing with.
I had already adopted the use of Cyclemeter on my iPhone 5 to track my ride data and was also using the Wahoo Blue Speed and Cadence Sensor, the Wahoo Blue Heart Rate Monitor, and now the Wahoo RFLKT so the Wahoo KICKR immediately grabbed my attention. The more I read about it the more I liked it.
I guess I've turned into a Wahooligan, I really like their products, support, and functionality. Much like Cruzbike, from my experience Wahoo has truly excelled at customer support and goes the extra mile to insure the customer is satisfied.
DC RAINMAKER has a nice comparison calculator where you can select and compare trainers (or other products).
Here is the
comparison between the Lemond Revolution and the Wahoo KICKR.
In the results you can see that you really need to get the Lemond Revolution with cassette at $699 and the Power Pilot ANT+ cycling computer at an additional $399 to get close to the features that come with the KICKR's $1099 price tag - so the KICKR is ony $1.00 more but you get more features and more 3rd party vendors are building applications for it.
And in my case, I saved $140 by buying my KICKR through the discount Ray offers at the bottom of his
in-depth dcrainmaker Wahoo KICKR review.
I still like the Lemond Revolution but I like the KICKR better. If you have a stable of ANT+ devices, the Lemond Revolution may make more sense but the KICKR also supports ANT+...

PS - I think the REFLKT is going to end up being able to control the KICKR - very cool!
