Softrider Hand Brake

I was tired of the softrider (no kick stand as too heavy) moving when put up against a wall and falling over, unless the ground was perfectly level, or I could tuck the pedal into something.

I tried a double sided velcro strap from my Scorpion FX but, it got in the way of the shifters.

I then tried an old set up plastic wedge from a Shimano XT front derailer, drilled a hole in it and tied it to the brake cable.

When I need it , I apply the brake and insert the small part of the wedge into the brake handle and instant hand brake!

I have a double legged kickstand on my freerider. I bought one which is pretty light, just 450 grams.

For those of us that do not read German.
Here is a hyperlink to the kickstand on the English language part of the web site. ;)
It is a nice stand Jon. I might buy one for my folding bike. :)

On a Scorpion FX the brake levers on the newer models are easy to lock for parking.
Artifice also has that option. To lock the brakes on a Sofrider you can change the brake lever to one that locks for parking?
I have a Sofrider my self I use the standard kickstand without locking the brakes. At home it’s in the garage at work I have to park outside but they have stands to park in.

Any reason a simple rubber band on the handlebar wouldn't work?

Alan over at EcoVelo even has a beautiful picture of one.

I use one every time I ride the commuter train with my Thunderbolt - works great.

Once i got my wide schwalbe on both wheels and removed the stock tires, then it turned out to be a little too short.
