Hi Folks

I've been emailed from 3000MilesforaCure and see that 3 of them have been given Google Glass training for the 2015 RAAM

I see that Maria has been riding with Google Glass.

So does that mean we will have three Cruzbikes in the RAAM next year?? Maybe a two person team and a single??

2015 looks interesting!!

Maria's been there done that, save those epic rides for something new like the Trans-Am. Besides I thought she crashed and trashed her "G-glass"? The problem with RAAM is not only is it an athletic feat it's a feat of finance. Race the Trans-Am and get as much publicity while being over $30K ahead in raising cash for Miles to a cure .

RAAM v's Trans-AM

I doubt very much you could get the same publicity from the Trans-Am as you could for riding the RAAM, but generally you make much of your own publicity whatever you ride.

As for costs, the RAAM for a solo effort is around $36,000 and the riders I have contact with say they raise enough for their charity to cover those costs. Even so, you have to have someone on the team who does a great job of raising money, otherwise it's a chunk of change out of your pocket.

Ken.

Some 3KFAC links

"Race Across America (RAAM) is the infamous 3,000 mile bicycle race we use as the platform to raise funds to end brain cancer. The Ultra Challenge Fundraising application we proposed will leverage Google Glass to share the raw experience of our riders' journeys and pair their progress and perseverance with fundraising pledge milestones and notes of encouragement along the route. For the first time, you'll be able to see and experience RAAM through a racer's eyes and the racer will be alerted to every message of support and donation you send. This will create a powerful change-making cycle of encouragement, shared purpose and inspiration, giving the team the strength to power through the race. Glass will also be used by the racer to share critical information with crew throughout the 10-day race.
On July 14, three 3000 Miles to a Cure teammates will meet with Google Glass software developers to make our project a reality."

"This past month, three representatives from 3000 Miles to a Cure - Mulligan, Parker and Parker's daughter, Lucia - met with Google developers in San Francisco to learn how Google Glass works."
