Welcome to the forum. :)

IMHO The Montague Paratrooper would not be a suitable donor bike for a conversion kit. The seat would end up way too high. It would be virtually unrideable. Please go back to the drawing board and think again.

Is it important to you that your recumbent should fold?
If so, then personally I would look at recumbents such as the HP Velotechnik GrassHopper fx

There is no need for that. There are a number of Downtube.com conversions.

I've only just considered riding a 'bent' ( and just figured that is short for recum-bent ?), so on a steep learning curve here.

Pedals and cleats are one thing I was wondering about, given I've only just gone 'clipless' on my upright ( now what do you call them ? DF ? - diamond frame?). That is, I'm just OK with SPD on my hybrid, but still learning with Time ROC on my MTB ( gee, your feet are welded in with these things - I may give up before they loosen up). Both MTB types actually - no idea how they compare with roadies gnerally.

Pedals are just one question ( I'll get to triples vs Rohloffs later, etc etc). BUT - thinking I'll need road pedals to suit a Silvio, I'm leaning to the Speedplays ( as they are one of the options offered with the component package). OK, and I think they look great.

Assuming I can find out if they are OK to get out of ? Any experience with these?
Thanks.

They're fine to get out of if you are accustomed to them, they usually have a tightness screw that you can adjust to your preference.

I have SpeedPlay Frogs on my Silvio. Once I was confident enough on the Silvio, I made the switch and wished I had done so earlier. I found that starting was easier and no longer had an issue with my feet coming of the pedals.
