Subscribing

Subscribing - how does that work? can one subscribe automatically to everything, thereby experiencing much the same as the yahoo feed? On the user control panel I see only how to unsubscribe.

My brilliant daughter who manages a few of these forums on other topics says you can subscribe to the forums you want to track (or all of them) using the User CP.

I'm gonna try it out.

I prefer to click on "view new posts", which pulls up all new posts, regardless of topic, since your last log in. That saves a lot of skipping around.

And using Firefox for my browser, I just mouse wheel click on each one and a bunch of tabs with all the new posts.

Hi there John and Doug,
I've once again missed something with this forum. In your "subscribing" post, John, you say that you can only see the "unsubscribe" (and that's all I can see too in the User Control Panel), but unfortunately I can't see how to subscribe to a topic. I tried going to a topic and "right-clicking", as an example, but I didn't get anywhere towards subscribing to the topic.
So maybe John, or Doug, with your daughter's help, you can throw some light on how to subscribe to a topic.

Now I'm not sure how useful or otherwise subscribing to a topic may be for me, but I'm one of those people who likes to know how these things are done, in case I want to use the feature at some stage. At the moment I'm using "the Mark method" and viewing New Posts, when logged in as a member. This works okay, but maybe being notified of changes with subscription(s) could be useful.

Kindest regards, John R (WhiteSilvio)

Gents,

Sorry for dredging up an old topic, but as I was searching for the secret decoder ring on how to subscribe to a topic, I came across this one. If someone would be so kind as to inform this newbie how to do this, I would be grateful.

Cheers!
