I am, soon to be a Quest owner(my first recumbent) anyway I have a pair of avid BB7 sitting at home and I am thinking when I get the Quest is to swap over the brakes. Will this just be a simple bolt off and bolt on affair or is there something I fogotten to allow for?
Fatall,
Yes, and the BB7 are much easier to get the pads square to the disc, with a larger pad area, and adjusting knobs on both sides, make centering the housing a breeze.
Yes, you can do this, but I think you must also use a BB7 rotor, otherwise the pads will not match the rotor. The BB7 has larger pads and a larger rotor surface area (and correspondingly better stopping power). But the braze-on mounts are the same, so swapping the brake unit is trivial. Perhaps the BB& brake unit would work with a BB5 rotor, but this should be checked.
Super Slim is right that the BB7s are also better in being easier to adjust.
Thanks Super Slim and billyk, I haven't changed over to the bb7 yet.
I've had the quest for about a month now and I am still getting used to it. So far I am getting better at starting up, still have the occasional swerve on startup. The other problem I have to master is close quarter navigation. Such as chicanes, I tend to over correct and I have to stop, correct and restart again.
