Go on, Jason, you are thinking about it, I know. If you can do that mountain track on your Trek, you can do it on a penny-farthing.

Yes, they were geared. A few still exist,Unless I'm reading it wrong, entirely possible, seems to be indicating that there is some kind of internal gearing at least for No. 3. Anyone know more? C3 looks like an ancient relative of V20 - just don't try to ride C4 if you find one!!!

Brake and mudguards = 28lbs! They were pretty light back then!
Cruzbike in stock complete build packages as of 2018.06 website data:
T50 = 32lbs
Q45 = 34lbs
S40 = 28lbs
V20 = 26lbs
Theirs would have been best of the best probably at the time as it was a racing machine so Cruzbikes all have a little room to shave off stock configuration, but still Wow! That was light.

That Crypto has a very short wheelbase. There is a cable running along the frame. Does that lever operate both brakes? Where are the brake callipers?

Lol, maybe. There is nothing really new under the sun, isn't it?
Anyway, there IS a certain amount of had tube incline, therefore, some trail given zero offset (rake).
If you assume head angle 0f 86 deg (that's what my graphical editor tells me) and 24" wheel with narrow tire - that would be 20mm of trail and a whooping 1mm of wheel flop
I doubt it would feel stable doing 40 mph downhill, but on the other hand can you spin like 200 rpm?
Though if it has internal gearing, it might feature coasting as well.
I predict the ride to be phenomenally harsh, though. Seat suspension will surely come in handy.

Seat suspension. Lol. Back then they were totally hard arse. And dead by 55 usually
28 lbs was just the weight of the wheels tyres and mudguards. That’s all you were left with after 100 klm. Oh and a sore bottom. ( I know lightweight bikes were available and used back then my next door neighbour had a track bike from the late 30s. But tyres were rubbish)
Imagine crashing on a penny farthing a 3.5 m headbutt. I was wincing when he dismounted.
Proud Mary kept playing in my head.
Now imagine the bikes in 50 years if the uci would hurry up and live a little.

Only if *I* live long enough to receive genetic modification that would allow me to produce 20 watt/kg of power continuously at the very least.
(I'll also need to grow some heat dissipation radiators like stegosaurus so not to boil myself alive from heat output)Unfortunately, cube-square law is more heartless even than gravity in this case...
