Last night the tension was electric for the Cruzbike Virtual Race Team. It was time for the Thursday night Zwift Team Time Trial races. Two Cruzbike teams: Low Drag, a nimble four-person crew known for their good looks, and Team High Speed, a powerhouse squad of six riders would continue their series against each other. Low Drag holds a 2-0 lead in the current series. The rules were set: Low Drag would have a six-minute head start, a strategic advantage to give them a fighting chance against the stronger High Speed squad in this 40 + Km race.

Low Drag burst out of the gate like a shot as the countdown reached zero. Their lead rider, Tug Boat Roy, pushed hard right from the start, setting a blistering pace. They worked as a tight unit, rotating smoothly and keeping their speed around 36 km/h. The goal was to crest the Volcano just beyond the halfway point with a lead and then cruise to the finish on adrenaline to win the race.

Six minutes passed, and now High Speed was off. Right from the start, it was clear they meant business. High Speed was hammering through the desert at 41 kph. # k's out the Low Drag riders began to show signs of fatigue as they left the desert for the volcano climb. No Party Hardy dropped back to recover, While Jim Mac Attack Gowen, a welcome returnee from rehab, takes over. The team was struggling to maintain its momentum, and their lead beginning to look more like a ticking time bomb.

Meanwhile, High Speed was storming forward like a freight train. The six riders pushed through the desert section effortlessly, taking advantage of the draft created by their well-orchestrated rotations. High Speed's biggest engine, Otto Watto took over and set a punishing pace, eating into Low Drag's lead with every pedal stroke.
Now, Low Drag has reached the halfway point up the volcano, and Team High Speed is only 30 seconds behind. Fueled by the prospect of catching their rivals, they powered up the incline like a swarm of relentless hyenas. One by one, Low Drag’s riders glanced back, seeing the pack of six drawing closer and closer. Capt Josh yelled for Low Drag to dig deep and get to the top. To no avail, High Speed went flying by. Laura, then Connie, Otto, Rick, John, and Mike. It was over for Low Drag, a day not to be.

Team High Speed crosses the line in dominant fashion, knowing they have executed the perfect chase. This seals High Speed's first victory in the series. Low Drag, while deflated, rode through to the finish with heads held high. They had fought valiantly, but in the end, the numbers—and the strategy—of Team High Speed had proven too much to overcome. Oh my! Those Thursday night at the races are always fun and we always have room for you. Come join us.

Yes, clipping our friends the Coyotes was nice. For the newer readers here when we were looking into racing TTT years ago the coyotes were the team we rode with initially to see what the TTT thing was all about. Last night the Coyotes were about 35 seconds behind us the last 2 Km. We had passed them a few K back. They launched their 4 fastest to catch us and fortunately, Jim noticed. We waited until they were within 15 seconds and then sprinted in the last 400 meters or dodging another bullet. I initially had them in our race report but it was a bit too long already. Our readers are good for about 15 seconds so I took it out. Lots of good things go on during these TTT.
