Yup, those are the two things that I do: unclip my inside foot and sit up. If it's a higher speed turn, momentum will usually carry me through. But if it's a slow speed maneuver, I will shift into an easy enough gear that I can turn the crank with the foot that is still clipped in to pull me through the turn. Like most things with the V, these moves eventually become second nature.
