Touch-up Paint

Arg. Somehow I've managed to prang the paint job on my new Silvio--probably, given the location, when I had it clamped in the stand (even though I used a towel for protection).

Anyway, I don't know much about these kinds of things. Does anyone have any advice on touching up the scrapes? Some questions:
- is a sequence of sand->prime->paint necessary for touching up, or just paint?
- is spray the only way to go, or will brush-on produce a decent result?
- Do the good folks at Cruzbike sell the stuff? If so, how can I obtain?
- If not, can anyone recommend something that could approach the high gloss black finish? Maybe just a good old can of gloss black Rust-o-leum will do the trick.

I'm not looking for perfection, just a decent patch job.

Thoughts appreciated.

I have a few dings in the paint in the same areas, so I would be interested in some touch up paint, as well. Mine are minor enough you can't see them normally, but I know they're there.

Okay, you're not going to believe what I'm telling you, but here's how I will fix this type of thing.

I did it on a black car I owned, when my 18-month old son came up to me and said, "Daddy, I wash your car" and was holding a five-inch long rock. Sure enough, he had washed my car all the way up one side and down the other, clean to the primer. :x

Get a black Sharpie marker. I'm not kidding.

Fill-in the scrapes, be generous in the area that goes to the prep coat.

Let it dry. You may need to repeat it.

Next, use a gentle wax (McGuires works well) and polish the entire area. If you're near the decals, go easy there.

You will be amazed.

Good luck,

Doug

Good one! I've actually used the Sharpie solution in other situations. Let me try that plus wax and see where that lands me. But I suspect you're right: That'll do the trick!

Thanks

Worked fine. Sure, if you're squatting down eyeballing the base of the frame below the seat, you can see the spots; otherwise, great! Thanks again.

So, this Sharpie you speak of. Is this something that Cruzbike will be offering as an aftermarket item? I hope they keep the price reasonable. I'd hate to pay much more than twelve bucks, or so.

The expensive one is the Carbon Fiber and Titanium Sharpie you use when you knick your Carboyoke.

Go to local auto parts store and find touch up paint that matches. Should be available in small bottle with pen tip and small brush.
