Transporting S40 in Dodge Grand Caravan

Taking my S40 on 30 minute drive tomorrow. With the help of people on this forum, I have finally figured out how to get my derailleur working fine. Question: what is the best way to transport bike in Dodge Grand Caravan for a short trip that minimizes chances of me screwing up the shifting when I put bike in to start journey or take bike out. I know this is a very specific question but if anyone knows you all do.

I have a Honda Odyssey. If you don't have a hitch bike rack, you will need to lower 2nd and 3rd row seats. Then you can lay the bike flat in the back with derailleur side up.

I am not sure how much higher an S40 standard when compared to a V20, but I put my seats all down and roll my V20 in from one of the side doors (maybe need to be at a slight angle. Then lay it against the side and attach it there with a couple bungee cords. That way it never has to even lay down. I go through the doors because there is more height that way - but if you have someone help you you can also go in from the rear, you might just have to tip the bike more to the side to get through.

V20 is much lower. I can't fit my S40 into my Odyssey vertically. That's why it has to go in flat. I usually use the hitch rack though. Laying flat in the back is plan B.

I have a kit bike and qx100 and a gen 1 Odyssey with regular, non-sliding doors. I fold down the 3rd row seat and the passenger side 2nd row seat. Then I go in through the back with bike pointed forward and at an angle so that the wheels are against the bottom inside of the right wall and the handlebars and seat back towards the top left with my left hand on the left handlebar and the right hand on the right side of the seat bottom I ease it in forwards as far as possible and the the rear pivots to the left rear corner and the handlebars should be leaning on the left second row seat. This usually works without any fiddling now that I have done it a bunch of times. Waxed chain is way, way more friendly to upholstery. I don’t even think about throwing a rag in between any more because it just doesn’t cause any issues. Bear in mind that it is a 1998 van.
