If you can stuff the old tube in there, run 'em. If it's a pain, replace 'em. That's a pretty narrow tire for a mountain bike rim, go easy and make sure they stay hooked on the bead.

You can roll the bracekts down and put some packing between the fork leg and the bracket to lower the front wheel in the fork, if you didn't already try it.

All the air shocks that I can find online have mouldings with two tabs and the whole shape of the fork is different cf. to the other.
Can you suggest forks that will do the job.

The one pictured had two tabs, also. The one has been cut off and filed off. Most decent forks should handle your "incredible bulk". I have about 30 more pounds of incredible bulk than you do.
