Upgrading S40 circa 2019. Need tech advice

Its finally done! My S40 is now a 2x with SRAM Force AXS. What a great ride! It's amazing the difference between lower end components (Apex is no slouch, BTW) and the upper crust. So smooth! So quiet! I am no longer searching for the right gear, because it is right there! I also have a bit higher gearing so I don't spin out as much. The front derailleur works great. No hesitation and makes the shift every time. Thanks, Robert, for the hub information. The XDR free hub I ordered from Great Britain works perfectly! Due to all the input, here on the forum, I was able to trouble shoot pretty much everything before the shop put it together, so there was no scrambling getting parts at the last second. Thank you to you all! I was grinning and laughing all during my first ride with the new setup.

And the Viscoset headset? I did not notice much of a difference at first. I had to look to see if they forgot to put it on. However, at speed is when I noticed the difference. It's like my bike is now on a rail. Straight and true with no hesitation or wobbling. It is an awesome and liberating feel. Thanks, again, to Robert. I will post pics when I can. Gotta remember how to do that...

I am just wondering if you think it helps with slow speed stability (<5 mph). I am good with going fast... it's going really slow that I don't like. :)

When next I am on the road, I will make better observations. I threw out my back last Thursday. I am slowly recovering. Might be a couple more weeks before I get on the road again.

After some slower rides, I can say the Viscoset does help with stabilization at slower speeds, but not by much. I don't feel as off balance, but the front end can still swing wildly if you don't pay attention. The Viscoset works better at high speeds.

Thank you @Merczak73 for the update on the Viscoset. I will forgo the idea then because it's the slow speed wild swing I have problem with. I guess I will just keep doing more slow speed or climbing training, even after 3 years of riding it! :)

Hi @cpml123. When I need to navigate slow-speed stuff, I unclip the foot that I normally put down for a stop, keep the other clipped in, and sit up. I can see well, and while sitting up with one foot out, the bike becomes easily maneuverable in slower, tighter situations, at almost the same speed that I would carry on an upright bike. It took some practice, but now it just happens.
