Used Vendetta For Sale

I'm selling my father's Cruzbike Vendetta. He was riding it about 20 miles, daily, before he developed Parkinson's. To me, it appears to be in good shape other than the chain, tires and tubes. Brakes seem to function. I know nothing about them, so I haven't tried riding it myself and shifting.

I have about a two-week window between now and when I move to Arkansas for a new job.

The bike is currently located in Lake Charles, Louisiana but I will be bringing it to my home in Gonzales, about 55 miles from New Orleans.

He's asking $3000. He told me it originally listed for $5000.

I'd welcome any comments or suggestions other than giving it away. ;)

Gary,

Take a look at some of the posts of older model Vendettas here:

The Vendetta for sale looks like the first model with hydroformed frame, maybe the V2.0, just before the V20. @LarryOz could tell you more.

Very sorry to hear about your dad. It sounds like he enjoyed riding this bike. I'd recommend taking it by a bike shop to get their assessment of what repairs it needs. I see what looks like rust on the chain and maybe rear cassette. It uses a regular bike drivetrain and brakes, so a good shop can help you even if they don't sell recumbents.

Thanks!
Oh yeah... To everything.
He loved riding. He believes he still can but his balance is way off. If he slowed down he's liable to fall over. His reaction time is virtually nonexistent.
The chain is definitely being replaced. And I'm taking it to a bike shop, tomorrow. They did a good job getting my Mom's Schwinn Grand Sierra, trailworthy again.

If he still wants to ride but can't balance, consider trading someone for a trike.

I'm not sure his 'ego' would allow that. LOL
But it's a good idea, but where he's living now, the 'road' isn't conducive to riding much of anything. I drive a truck and will take the longer route to avoid as much of the 'washboard' effect as possible.

Not in the market, but I have to say I love the custom rear rack your dad made for it! I never even thought about the fact you could attach a rack-style add-on to that part of the frame. I might have to make one for mine...

I didn't know that it was a custom rack, but it doesn't surprise me in the least. He has/had the knowledge and skills to fabricate or assemble a wide variety of things. In fact, he built his own recumbent bicycle, which I recently learned, was the one he rode most often.
And another item we're trying to figure out how to sell was this... A UFO Heli-thruster. It was a kit he'd ordered from New Zealand but modified to include a PTO from the engine to act as a sort of clutch to retard the rotation of the rotor in windy conditions. A moderate wind, while rolling the place out from the hanger, could actually cause the rotors to spin and generate lift. I guess, basically, it would try to 'take off' on its own. With the modification, it would 'gear down' the rotation allowing him to do, whatever, before climbing into the cockpit and lifting off.
Unfortunately, we'll never know if it worked as designed. He only managed to get it about 90% complete before having to give up on it.UFO_HeliThruster (1).jpg

I'm sorry to hear the project was never fully finished! It sounds like an incredible vehicle, and your dad seems like an amazing person. Having accomplishments and creations like that is what life is all about, I think. Good luck with figuring out how to sell it all - if I was twenty years older and had a more stable income, I would be so down for fixing that helicopter up and flying it! It truly does look like a unique vehicle. Hope you can find someone who shares the passion.

I do have an interested party... A young woman I spoke with at a local Suzuki dealership where I'm having my Dad's motorcycle fixed up.
She mentioned a 'rich cousin' she's going to see if they will buy it for her. LOL
I won't hold my breath.
