V20 on velodrome

Love the ultrafixie but racing bikes like that is why I'm now on a CB - aching back and sore/numb nads are no fun. And how about taking a 56:12 up a 15% slope!? But it sure is pretty! My custom Ti SS is hanging on my shop wall. It's pretty too . . . But dusty!

But, having said all that "above" - the extra watts I can make on the Silvio (extra 10 degrees) was not enough to overcome the aero-disadvantage. Similarly, I believe the same would be the case for the S40, but more pronounced.

Yes, my relative improvements would be (likely) larger.

But a socked S40 might be the fastest production bike ever made.

I think Charles is going to setup his 20" folding bike with a stretchy bendable sock, and sort all the problems out, so a sock for a S40 could follow quickly after!!!

BillyK , GRR, and others have successfully mounted fairings on MBB bikes (see, for example, this thread). The tail piece and sock between the two would look like any other socked bike.

Just think of it. A nice upright position for generating power. And likely more aerodynamic than a V20.

Cruzbike could do some serious damage on RAAM with a setup like this.

Fairing no problem except it moves with boom. Will sock just stretch side to side as u turn? Would that not hamper handling? Might be a solution to boom flop.

Socks are stretchy so it won't be a problem.

I like the idea if sock will stretch enough for turns.while attached to windscreen. If it could be ready by the next CMS time trial along with built in Motor i might be able to challenge Larry.

The way to challenge Larry is to jump out of an aeroplane. Long steep descent, but hard to avoid the dangerous bit at the end.
