V20 -> V20c + trainer?

I've had my V for 6 years now, and maybe its just an itch, but thinking about a new bike lately. I also rode the V on the trainer quite a bit over the winter and now I think I want a permanent trainer ride too. I just upgraded the V last year to Force 2x11 AXS HRD (also has Zipp 303s)

Options:
1. Sell the V as a complete bike, buy a V20c frame, put new components on it, buy an old / cheap recumbent to use as a trainer.
2. Take the Force off the V, sell it with the 303s (I don't think they can support a through axle...), buy the V20c frame, put the Force AXS on it, get new wheels, buy an old / cheap recumbent to use as a trainer.
3. Make the V a trainer with cheap components, put the Force on the V20c (what do I really need? a set of cranks with any chain ring is all)

Selling the V as a frame or a complete bike depends on what a buyer wants I guess. Opinions welcome on what to do.

3. I wouldn't be able to swap between the V20c on the road and a different 'bent" on a trainer unless I actually knew that I liked the other 'bent as well and was able to set it up close enough that it doesn't cause any discomfort swapping between the two. Then you have a spare V20 you can just pull off the trainer if needed.

I have a v20 on my trainer, I never use the front derailleur and it is nice to have the trainer all setup when I want to ride it. I ride v20c on the road exclusively. You could find a nice sRAM manual setup on eBay.

I agree that option three is most ideal. Your road ride and your trainer ride will feel very similar, and the trainer V could be a simpler 1x setup.

For your Zipp 303s wheels, if they have the Zipp 76/176 hubs that are standard spec for the 303s wheels, all you should have to do is swap the pressfit endcaps from QR to thru axle. Pull the old ones out, and pop the new ones in. That is a pretty common move for prebuilt wheels from larger companies. They make one hub body with a large diameter axle, and then use different endcaps to fit different frame applications. For the V20c, you would need endcaps for 12 x 100 and 12 x 142. And, bonus, they aren't that expensive. Here are a couple of links:

for the record, I bought a v20c, and finally got around to assembling it and putting the v20 on the trainer.

I moved the drivetrain over to the V20c and put an old Rival drivetrain that I had lying around on the v20. I didn't bother with the FD and left the RD on at the limit so I can't shift any gears. Handlebars look weird without hoods. Still need to change the pedals and add some grip tape. Seems to work well enough.

Glad to see this on a H3 Saris. I’ve wondered, have the same one.
now I need a bent frame to put on it!

The H3 has been trouble free. My setup now is no Zwift; I use my Garmin Epix to control the trainer and run my workout, and stream a show or movie.
