V20c Build Diary 2023 edition.

I want to acknowledge the time and level of detail that Bob put into this. I'm a previous S40 owner but bought that as a complete bike. I'm currently in the process of building up a V20c frameset and although I've built dozens of diamond frame bikes in my life, build my own wheels, ..., and therefore know my way around the schoolyard I can say that I'd be staring at this pile of parts for hours, if not days, without this build diary.

I'm just now at the top of page 2 (adding the wheels) and everything else (should be!) straightforward but I'd have had one heck of a time getting to this point without Bob's guide.

Got some other stuff to do for the next couple of days so I won't get back to it right away but I'll post a picture of the complete bike when I get it done.

Day 1 - Continued.

Okay, how will I keep this frame nice and pretty? One of the bigger challenges I have had over the years is the slow pounding of grit into the underside of the frame. I'll preface that by saying bike frames and paint are tough. They hold up well, but the paint eventually chips slowly over time. In the past, I've used shark skins and the like to protect them. This time, I'm going to try something a bit different to provide frame protection from the jump. This might turn out to be an utter failure; we'll see, but it also allows me to build a color theme on this bike.

Enter the might PlastiDip; Spray paint.

The plan.... Use the Plastidip as a protective layer on the frame and do it in a way that adds an acsent color. This will either be really cool or peeled off the bike two weeks after it hits the road. Here goes nothing..... Err, well, actually, here goes a whole day's worth of work.
