I only got out for about 15mins, just sorting out the shifting and brakes...but what an awesome ride. It really allows you to gather speed and sustain it fairly easily. Most of the time I used the head rest but for corners and the local round-abouts I would sit up instinctively to get vantage point of other cars etc. Showing it to a handful of customers over the next few days, then hope to log a few miles next.

First ride coming soon ...

Got reasonably settled at our new place, rode the Silvio several times up and down the mountain roads. Looks like I'll be taking the V out for a first shakedown sometime late this week.

First technical and challenging Vendetta ride...

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/115505299

September 18th.

First serious long and technical mileage on the Cruzbike Vendetta. I was ultra-cautious on the downhills. The bike is a rabbit on the uphills. Better judgment on the downhills decreased my max speed from 40's to the 20's - caution on the twisty mountain grade descents.

Purposely stayed out of the lowest gear (34/32) when climbing to build endurance and strength. With the exception of a few dozen meters my climbing was done in the 34/28 gear in the typical 4% - 7% inclines.

5,300 feet of climbing in about 30 miles of the 54 miles course is ... not easy.

Pretty pleased with the result and feel much more confident with this racehorse of a bike. Unlike any other recumbent I've ridden my arms and grip were tested today. Anticipating more strength and agility with the Vendetta.

At this point the `pilot' is the limiting factor.
