2012 Vendetta Tweeks/Upgrades

Thanks John!

If it not too soon to post, what tweeks or upgrades can we expect to see on the 2012 Vendettas. I have been riding a 650c Bacchetta CA2 for the last 2 years and I am ready for that next bike. Don't get me wrong, the CA2 is a great bike but like most preformance riders, I am looking for the faster, better climbing, more cormfortable bike with 700c wheels. That could be a 700c CA2 or Vendetta. Sell me!

Main impovements in the

Main impovements in the current production are:
o front triangle sized to small, medium and large
o better management of crank height
o revised seat profile
o conformance to road bike components throughout
o better management of handlebar positions
o validation of drop bars as used on Silvio
o revised steering geometry

Most of these changes are for improving the fit of the frame to the body. The engagement of the body is from both hands and feet and seat. Feet and seat are relatively easy to get right. Hands and arm ergonomics, while keeping clear of the knees and retaining aerodynamics and allowing the arms to effectively support the torso (so it can work in with the pedalling) -- these are tricky questions that we have studied further in the design and specification of the 2012 model.

There a bit of dark art grown up around recumbents fo rhow to mix and match road and mtb stuff. I believe with Vendetta we finally have a frame that captures and delivers power equivalent to a diamond frame without too much of a weight penalty. That means that whatever gearing one has on their road bike should be suitable for their Vendetta. In fact one approach is to completely transfer over all the road bike's wheels and equipment. A longer chain would be needed and new cabling. The crank to axle distance is greater than the road bike standard (Silvio not) and increases on the medium and large front triangle versions.

We have used Virtual Human Engineering GmbH to study body fit to ensure anyone will fit. Expectations are always subject to validation once real people ride real bikes, however our study shows accommodation of Japanses women at the 5 percentile height through to US males at the 99 percentile height, the widest range of any of our models to date.

In summary we have taken the blistering speed and made it easier to live with.

@ spdixon .. It will be hard to spot the differences visually ...

@ak-tux .. thanks! you may be right, perhaps an updated version number. Its the revised steering geometry that pursuades.
