Weight of conversion kit?

The conversion kit page does not list a weight for the kit: http://cruzbike.com/conversion-kit
and although I've searched this forum I can't seem to find a clear answer.

Has anyone weighed the kit?

From what I've seen, the conversion will result in a very heavy bike (40 lbs not uncommon) - though riders swear it "rides like a much lighter bike" ;-)

I already own a 40 lb bike (my upright tourer), so I'd be the first to admit that bike weight isn't as important as some people make it out to be. I won't win any races - but the bike is faster than people think, tough as nails, and will go anywhere in any weather and at any time of day.

However, that isn't to say that I don't care about weight. It's definitely part of the equation as I'm considering suspended/unsuspended conversion kit vs. V2K vs. Sofrider.

If it's true that a converted bike typically weighs ~40 lbs, then I think it's even more impressive that Cruzbike managed to get the Sofrider down to 32 lbs! (Per the Sofrider page).

(PS - as I was reading the Cruzbike site while writing this, I saw Jim Parker's blog post that the conversion kit is being discontinued! http://cruzbike.com/goodbye-cruzbike-kit-sniffle-sniffle)

I don't have a good answer

I don't have a good answer for you, but:

I believe my converted bike is a little bit lighter than my Sofrider, but I converted a folding bike. The seat, the seat support, most of the front triangle are the same.

When I bought the Sofrider, I thought the weight was quoted closer to 37 lbs.

If you use the V2K versus Sofrider, I think you'll find they weigh very close to the same thing.

Boxed kit weight

The weight of a boxed conversion kit (shipping weight) is about 12lbs including instructions etc. Hope this helps.

This webpage suggests the kit

This webpage suggests the kit is around 9.9 lbs

Sadly I have not weighed my conversion either to confirm.

According to my notes

The components with packaging (but excluding the shipping box the stuff came in) was 10.0 pounds. The packaging is almost entirely plastic bags (most likely polypropylene) and a little bit of cardboard around the FWD brackets. So 9.9 pounds is probably about right. The shipping box is 21" x 12" x 8", which was surprisingly small to me.
