The conversion kit page does not list a weight for the kit: http://cruzbike.com/conversion-kit
and although I've searched this forum I can't seem to find a clear answer.
Has anyone weighed the kit?
From what I've seen, the conversion will result in a very heavy bike (40 lbs not uncommon) - though riders swear it "rides like a much lighter bike" ;-)
I already own a 40 lb bike (my upright tourer), so I'd be the first to admit that bike weight isn't as important as some people make it out to be. I won't win any races - but the bike is faster than people think, tough as nails, and will go anywhere in any weather and at any time of day.
However, that isn't to say that I don't care about weight. It's definitely part of the equation as I'm considering suspended/unsuspended conversion kit vs. V2K vs. Sofrider.
If it's true that a converted bike typically weighs ~40 lbs, then I think it's even more impressive that Cruzbike managed to get the Sofrider down to 32 lbs! (Per the Sofrider page).
(PS - as I was reading the Cruzbike site while writing this, I saw Jim Parker's blog post that the conversion kit is being discontinued! http://cruzbike.com/goodbye-cruzbike-kit-sniffle-sniffle)
