What do we use for bike racks for transportation?

I've got a lower end Yakima rack attached to my car's hitch. It has an arm that clamps onto the frame between the seat and the head tube. However, it does wobble and the bike has fallen off once (due to operator error. Scary business, but the break lever took the brunt of the injury). Whenever I get around to installing my Thor seat, that setup won't work any more as the Thor seat extends further forward than the stock seat and I'm at the limits of movement of the bike left to right (due to wider wheel base).

I was looking at 1UP and their bike racks. I have their original trainer which is not made any more. Quality stuff! I was wondering if anyone here was using a 1UP car rack to transport their Cruzbike. Or, what car rack are y'all using? I will be using a hitch mounted rack, BTW. I have an S40 circa 2019.

Thanks!

Edit: That's the rack I am currently using in my member pic. As you can see, the clamp arm is right up against the seat.

I use Kuat NV 2.0 hitch rack for my 2017 S40. I hook the clamp thing in the middle of the bike at the lowest curve and not at the front wheel because I have a permanent front fender on.

Don't know if you can get it where you are, but I move a 2019 S40 on the Halfords basic tow hitch 4-bike car rack. Works nicely.

I have a Sportwing 2-bike hitch rack, that I saw mentioned in an old forum thread. The bike hangs from two padded hooks by its wheels. Easy to load the bike, and I have no fear of its coming off. The drawback for me is that it's nearly impossible to load both my Cruzbikes at the same time, with conflicts between the handlebars and seats.

I can say with confidence that the 1up rack will not work as is. The front wheel drive setup gets in the way of the retaining bars from getting a good hold on the tires. I have looked up the Kuat. That might work.

Just looked up the sportwing. Looking for something with a wheel tray type system rather than a suspension system.

I recently purchased an Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack, Model 102DN-R from Amazon. I usually carry the bike inside my Outback but I wanted my bike at the cabin we rented & the car would be more than full with necessities for our 3 week stay. It's a 2 bike rack, connected with 5 straps all attached around the rear hatch. The bike dangles from the horizontal supports by the boom to where the outer bike would attach. I tied the lower parts of the bike to the bike with rope to the rack to keep it from swaying. The rear wheel was removed giving plenty of clearance from the road & better weight balance. I was nervous about about such a cheap rack holding an expensive bike it was not designed for but it worked flawlessly. We arrived at the ca

Has anyone tried the Kuat Transfer V2 or the Yakima HoldUp with the S40? I contacted Kuat, but they weren't much help. They said as long as I can get the rachet arm hook in the correct place, the Transfer V2 should work.

I use the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 for my V20, S30, and two mountain bikes (though not all at once). It works great, and the Transfer looks like it has the same hooked arm design.

Yup. The sherpa looks like a stripped down NV2. Just saw on Kuat's website their new bike rack for $1400. Direct rip off from 1up. I will look into the Sherpa or even he Transfer.

The 1up works for me with the front cross bar lowered to one of the lower positions. I use a strap if I'm taking it a long distance, but I had the rack slip to the lower position once when I hadn't secured it and the bike didn't come off.

I bought a sportwing rack before realizing I could adjust the 1up. It has never been out of the box if someone wants to buy it from me.

Are you able to post some pics of the bike in the 1up rack? Would love to see how it works.
