Ok I have a question?
Has anyone built the s 40 with
Campy carbon
I have an old road bike and I am looking at swapping the 700 mavic open pro wheels and group set to a new bike (S 40 ) I do know I will need a new bottom bracket and some new cables for some of the build.
Does the S 40 have holes to use rim breaks
Thanks

I phones really suck when you post from them , words change , spell check , can’t see everything on the screen had to edit this morning. Posted from work yesterday

Campagnolo makes many kinds of BBs, so you should be able to use what you have. Just make sure the specs on your old bike's BB is the same as the S40. If it is, then you can use the cups for the S40. If it isn't the same then you'll have to buy new BB cups for the S40 while making sure the cranks fit the cups, and are the right width.

The bottom bracket I the old bike is Italian.
And S 40 is English
If I can find the cups maybe
I know I can get a track bottom that may work
Thanks Jay

You'll just need a bottom bracket to fit the S40's 68mm English thread.
Rim brakes will fit.

I've thought about Campy on a CB before. The only detail that hangs me up is the shift lever that sticks out from the side of the lever hood. It would work fine in terms of function, but it might require a lot of hand movements to use that thumb lever. The typical hand position on a CB is the handlebar "drops," and with SRAM and Shimano shifters, the levers are right there at finger's reach. The hands don't have to move to shift gears. I don't know if this would be an actual difficulty or not, but it might something to consider.

I had Campagnolo Chorus brifters on my road bike, and I liked the thumb shifter, but you might be right about the location of the thumb lever probably being a bit out of reach on a recumbent if you are holding on to the drops. If you hang on to the brifters usually then it should be fine. I just pulled 1 of them out of my parts bin and forgot just how good Campy brifters feel.

I just can't sell the bike with the group set
It's just tooo nice
Jay

so keep it. N plus 1 right. So long as you actually ride every bike a little every year ;)

second hand bikes are great for the buyer only.

let it be your comparison bike and enable the s40 with a groupset of modesty perhaps if funds are an issue? Fit disc brakes if possible.

What about if you rotate the bar down so that the orientation is more horizontal like on the diamond frame and grip at the “curve”. That might get you drops-finger and under-hood-thumb especially with a flared bar and one that is flat under the curve like the genetic digest.

It is possible to adjust the bars so the shifter button is reached from the drops .
Just a problem to figure out , different bars Like buck horn when some use bar end shifters

I have a Rans LWB V 2 formula 26 that I built up with XTR and a carbon flat bar
Just hated the look of the chopper bars from Rans

Hi Jay,
I measured the brake cable, (S40 2020), you’ll need a longer cable ~2000mm.
