I'm for anything that will get people off the couch to exerciser. However, I will stick to a whole bike, thank you!:cool:

I'd love to try one. I can (or, at least, I could) ride a unicycle, so I should take to it pretty easy.

If it folded up smaller, I could see it being useful getting to/from train-station, etc. (I use 16" folding bike now).

People will buy anything - row-bike, jog-bike, elliptical-bike, and now part of a bike. Maybe we could sell a unicycle without the seat?

I love these alternative bikes. I don't care what people ride, as long as they ride. Bikes, trikes, rollerblades, ...

there's a guy roaming around Seattle on one of these http://solowheel.com/
I filmed him once from my Vendetta carrying his takeout home. :)

They are cool I suppose but with specs like this:
The Classic
  • Speed - Up to 10 mph / 16 kph
  • Range - Approx. 10 miles / 16 km
  • Weight - 24 lbs / 11 kg
and a cost like this
$1500-2500 or so (to not available yet)

I'll keep pedaling my bike.

It is certainly a device for an EARLY adopter to continue to push the tech...
That and they need to have that little Jetsons sound effect going while they ride.

If you have a couple mile commute (say, to the train station) with a couple miles at the other end, something like this might be perfect. I'd rather see these electronic gizmos than cars...

I agree BUT...they aren't (still) easy to ride. (I watched an athletic type try to ride it and fail)
the cost/benefit is crazy when compared to say...a simple scooter.
In america, for short distances like you describe, they are too fast for sidewalks and too slow for the street (and there aren't usually great bike lanes - and they don't fit there well either)

BUT...it is cool tech and the early adopters will prove it out and make it better.
The Sport and Extreme models have different profiles (longer, faster, etc) already.

I guess that's why my wife has all these 20-30 year old clothing in her closet - eventually they will be back in style.
Me - Blue jeans and tees shirts just never go out of style! ;)

To answer LarryOz's original question - "Who wants a half-bike?". Probably not that many folk.
However, lots of people want a Halfbike II. ;):)
So far $840,000 USD has been stumped up on Kickstarter against their original $50,000 USD goal.
