I just spent about 20 minutes typing a list of new-user questions, then hit a wrong key in error and appear to have lost the lot. I'm not willing to risk that again. How do I avoid such (admittedly minor) disasters?? Please help.

When I'm writing anything of length, ever so often I will copy everything to the clipboard or even to a Word document so I don't lose everything if I inadvertently do something that wipes out all my typing. Might not be the most elegant but it works.
