Frito, I didn't have a blowout. My cheap tires were leaking sealant through the tread at speed. Never went flat but would be softer when I got home.Seems like a few CBers have had blowouts lately Randy. RAR2 just had one, and I not only had a pinch flat from running a temporary tubed tire for lazily running it too long, I had an immediate puncture near the valve yesterday, forcing me to spend way too long in the sun and having to push my V20 quite a ways. I am going to re-set up both tires today, with a fresh batch of sealant, but I did see some inserts at 1 of my LBS that looked promising if I only consider the sales pitch on the box.
Sorry, I should have been more clear about the type of leak.Frito, I didn't have a blowout. My cheap tires were leaking sealant through the tread at speed. Never went flat but would be softer when I got home.
Hi, I am a nail magnet. Nail went cleanly through the tire and tube. Trying something new now for road rash, Hydrocolloid Patch Bandages with Self-Adhesive. ;-)Randy, why do you think your front tire blew?
There was a thread, "V20 front tire suddenly lost pressure and I crashed." I mention the "Vittoria Air-Liner inserts" in that thread. But I have not tried them. In that thread there was a lot of mentions of going tubeless. Are you running tubeless?
I am running Conti 5000 GP (28mm) with regular butyl tubes. I adjust tire pressure before each ride. I had thoughts of trying tubeless (wheels are set for this) but have not tried it - seems like more work.
So sorry to hear this Randy! I just added sealant into my front TPU tube last night to try it out.Hi, I am a nail magnet. Nail went cleanly through the tire and tube. Trying something new now for road rash, Hydrocolloid Patch Bandages with Self-Adhesive. ;-)
Larry Oslund put me on to this…amazing stuff! Heals and leaves no scars.Hi, I am a nail magnet. Nail went cleanly through the tire and tube. Trying something new now for road rash, Hydrocolloid Patch Bandages with Self-Adhesive. ;-)
These will speed up your recovery by about 3x - plus usually no scaring.Trying something new now for road rash, Hydrocolloid Patch Bandages with Self-Adhesive. ;-)
Are they cheaper than tire liners? These will speed up your recovery by about 3x - plus usually no scaring.
Thanks Micheal! Saw your previous note(Whats App). Have been resisting the change to tubeless. In my case I’m not sure it would have mattered. The nail was noticeable and lodged in the center tread. I have Mr Tuffy tire liners on order. May have to start running Gator Skins. So sorry to hear this Randy! I just added sealant into my front TPU tube last night to try it out.
I have a set of 32mm GP5000 Tubeless if you want to go for tubeless. I bought them and realized they are just a little too big from my V20. Still in boxes. I need to get 30mm tubeless size instead.
Hope to see you riding soon!
Michael
Hi, yes can see and feel the difference already. Might carry this with me on rides in place of band aides and gauze. These will speed up your recovery by about 3x - plus usually no scaring.
