What is the recommended approach to use 700c wheels with the VK/2 frame?

We attempted to obtain Pantour hubs... ... for suspension research. They currently appear to be made of Unobtanium.

Too much room when installing freewheel in rear dropouts

Washers are fine... Hi ocd, We run into this sometimes. Use 3/8 inch washers, the ones at the hardware store are usually about a millimeter thick; you can also usually find spacers with 3/8 inch holes that are 2.5mm thick. Cheers, Doug

    kids cruzbike

I looked at this a little bit... 26" inch wheels seem to put things too tall for quick learning (confidence) but that was with an existing frame. With a purpose-built frame I suspect we could use any size wheel we wanted, the key being seat height when you're done. Is Nicky doing Autocad...

    pedal size?

All our bikes use 9/16" spindles We tried to contact you by e-mail but your mailbox rejected our messages. 1/2" spindles are generally found on kids' bikes and older inexpensive adult bikes. Cheers, Doug

Converting a Tiara pro with 20" (406) wheels?

Hi, What problems might I have using a Tiara Pro frame with 20" wheels. This would basically be my really cheap-can-put-it-in-a-suitcase-Quest-like conversion bike. Would that work with this Downtube suspended fork? I see two problems: 1) I can imagine that the bike is...

Looking for an inexpensive, easy donor

Power-On Cycling Seat http://poweroncycling.com/product/poc-fiberglass-616.htm This is a very comfortable seat, the price is not terrible for the fiberglass version. I use the thickest cushion and and underlayer of "minicell" foam, which makes a huge contribution to comfort considering...

Help ! Having multiple flats on my Cruzbike Aero 67s wheelset - very frustrating !!!

Is the puncture in the same place on the tube every time? Hello, Ken, Locating the puncture site with respect to a landmark, say the valve stem hole or a particular spoke nipple installation hole might get us some insight. If the puncture moves around with respect to the wheel, we...

    Bar-end Shifters on a Silvio

Safety concern. The main reason we don't care for bar end shifters in the traditional position on the Silvio is the possibility of spearing yourself in an accident. Also, they tend to fall in a position that takes your hands out of the power transfer position when shifting on a climb. I...

    rear derailer sticking

Is the derailleur hanger bent? Looking from the rear of the cassette, the jockey pulleys should be vertically parallel to the cassette cogs. If not, the derailleur hanger will need to be straightened. If the derailleur cable was protruding or the housing was not seated in the adjuster...

    User's Gallery

"A ton to look at there" Heh, yeah - it's easy to see right now - it seems to be all on the floor... A lot of projects came up at the same time. Stuff's everywhere. About time to clear it all out and re-organize again.

    upgrade

2.0 spec Hi Stuart, It's hard for us to support upgrades like this directly with parts, because we have to buy everything in lots of 100. When I built the Quest 2.0 prototype using a Quest 1.0 as the base, the DualDrive Hub kit was $476 including shifter and clickbox, the rim had to...

FREE Donor Frame Project - Next Tiara

Fixed front fork with rear suspension

Should work fine... I've built them with no suspension, front only, front and rear, and now rear only. Particularly for road riding, the rear suspension probably makes the biggest difference. No suspension isn't particularly uncomfortable in any way, either (for me). Cheers...

Been there... ... Done that. Got the (customized) T shirt. Welcome to the "learn by doing" society. Hope you weren't injured. Once that's out of the way, quick releases become much easier to remember! (they did for me, anyway...) Cheers, Doug

    Bike-E as a donor bike?

Hmmm... My wife had a BikeE for a while, not a bad bike. I think it could be converted, since the head tube is ahead of the bottom bracket. You'd remove the crankset and bottom bracket and install them in the conversion kit front tube, of course. The SRAM 3x7 hub used by BikeE is the...
