    Genesis Hi Spark for conversion?

I think this could be a really good conversion... Top tube is below the bottom of the head tube; looks like the components are good enough to start with. A couple of my conversions have been non-suspended bikes with 700c wheels. This bike should work out well. Let us know if you run...

    Sofrider or Conversion?

Conversions can have rear quick releases, too... ... I list some parts for this here: http://www.cruzbike.com/conversions-axles-hubs-quick-releases-and-adapter-brackets. There's not much (other than front disc brakes) that you can't do with a conversion kit. The Sofrider fork has...

    Giane Suede as a donor?

the Seat pan mount... ... is designed to allow use in either direction; this installation looks fine. Sometimes the "weird" seat posts' clamps have enough angular adjustment range that they can be turned almost 90 degrees and used directly on the seat back rails in place of the clamp we...

    Nuvinci N360 and Patterson-Metropolis CVT

Very interesting... Hi Chris, I'm surprised you needed both the tensioner and the half-link. Did you experiment with moving the hub back/forward in the adapter bracket dropout? No criticism in this post (sometimes what I say comes across that way, it's not intentional). Just exploring what...

    Silvio 2.0 Commute in Traffic

Traffic comparison, Ivan? Ivan, Have you ever been to China, particularly the south? I go to Shenzhen on business many times per year (over the past 2 years, anyway), and while I find auto traffic there to be intimidating, I also have observed that bikes and electric mopeds are an integral...

Silvio 1.5 vs 2.0 - Power vs Speed

Wow, you have the toys! Very impressive work. Cool machining toys are no good without the skillz, which you obviously have in spades. I would very much like to take a cut at your data. The inference is that this is a really efficient bike (which anyone whose ridden one knows) but you are...

Has anyone tried Ultegra 2x11spd 6800?

135mm Hubs Hi Kiwiguy, "I notice that the road disc hubs for 11-speed are shifting to 135mm. Even the regular road hubs seem to be moving to 131mm to accommodate the need for more space. Would moving to a 135mm hub (as used for example on the new HED Ardennes Plus disc brake wheel set)...

Has anyone tried Ultegra 2x11spd 6800?

Our "official" position... ... is that Vendetta and Silvio were designed to use 10-speed components and double chainrings. These setups work fine out-of-the-box. 11-speed systems will require us to do more development. The Ultegra Triple requires modifications to work, but it's...

Silvio 2.0 Seat Angle and Rear Suspension

Very nice analysis, Ivan... I love quantitative analysis. A fine job you did. The cool thing about "rubber" parts is that they find their own best configuration as they are worked in use. So you have produced real data to show that the rear suspension adjustment is about "spring"...

Has anyone tried Ultegra 2x11spd 6800?

11-speed drivetrains... The component manufacturers make it very hard for us to predict where they are going, because they want to protect their intellectual property until the last minute. However, we make cutting-edge bikes and we want our customers to be able to use the latest and best...

Silvio 1.5 vs 2.0 - Power vs Speed

This is good work... Hi BBL, I see you're in Bumpass; I'm in Glen Allen, not too far from you. What equipment are you using to gather raw data? It looks like you're using MS Excel to plot your data. if you use the function "add trendline" some useful results can be obtained...

disc brake rotor size for silvio 2.0

"Threadless Headset" is the generic term... ... Aheadset was one of the first brand names to popularize the configuration. Sort of like how MBB bikes are becoming referred to as "Cruzbikes"

    silvio drive wheel removal

I reverse the skewer installation direction... I slide it in from the drive side. When I remove the wheel, I can slide it almost all the way out, so it's in far enough to keep the derailleur hanger located.

    damaged my boom...help, doug!

Anti-seize ... and bikes and I haven't gotten along all that well. I've always gotten good results with Phil Wood Waterproof Grease, and it has lots of other uses. Stays put where you put it and wipes off of paint without attacking the clear coat. I apply it with a small flat...

    damaged my boom...help, doug!

No worries, Andrew... ... We will get you taken care of, one way or another. We have options, and we'll do whatever it takes. I know you have sensitivity to the parts; sometimes our skill at recovery gets exercised. I just want folks to think a little before they break things, and this is...

disc brake rotor size for silvio 2.0

The rear 140 is a tight fit... I can't guarantee a 160mm rear will clear the seat stay. 140mm was the intended rear rotor size. It may work anyway, but it'll be close, I think.

    damaged my boom...help, doug!

Photos are indeed needed... I need to see the crack so I can see if there's a remedy short of replacing the boom, which may be a challenge at this point. Not trying to be rude, but I've seen a lot of bike parts (and car parts) damaged with extra leverage. General rule on these bikes...
