Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

And we missed you at BBB this year! I haven't made it to any of the Tuesday- or Thursday-night rides this summer, for various reasons. Hoping to get to the Encouragement Ride in the next week or two, once I have the full complement of chainring bolts again. Would be glad to hear it. Yes...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

Took the S30 out for 47 miles Saturday morning, at the Bikes, Blues & Bayous ride in the Mississippi delta town of Greenwood. The seat was a good fit, and the DIY neckrest worked well. My hands felt a little high, and the handlebar a little too wide, at that riser height. I'll probably look at...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

The riser was a good fit. There was just the right amount of steerer tube--about 1 1/4" to 1 1/2"--for it to clamp on to, no cutting needed. The brand the LBS uses is Delta. Not sure of the original length.

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

Riser added last week, and handlebars moved forward a comfortable amount. I still have room to cut the riser down another 5 to 10mm if I need to. Made a neckrest this morning out of 1/16" x 1.25" aluminum bar stock from Lowe's. Repurposed the cushion and mounting bracket from the suspension...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

The LBS had a stem riser in stock, but it's silver instead of black. The mechanic offered to do a test fitting of the riser to the S30, no charge, before ordering the black one. Looks like it'll work. Should have the black one in and installed by the end of the week.

    Rotor Q-ring advice

Here's an exhausting...er, exhaustive :emoji_wink: thread on the subject of Q-rings to get you started. Briefly--yes, they'll work, even with a SRAM Yaw FD. Orienting them is different than on a DF. One recommendation is to pair a 52T regular Q-ring with a 36T QXL (the more ovalized version)...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

Sure, I'll do that tonight. I could only find one that seemed truly natural; the position I chose is sort-of natural. By the measurements on the Thor web site, your XL seat is 5.3" (13.5 cm) longer than my S seat in the D-dimension, and 4.5" (11.5 cm) longer in the E-dimension. That's bound to...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

The upper recurve on my size S starts just above the second large hole in the frame, about where the lower screw for the headrest clamp goes. My shoulders are a good 2" (5 cm) farther forward than with the stock seat. By height (65"/165 cm), I fall on the line between small and medium. @Greg...

    Clipless pedals and hill starts...

Shimano PD-M324. I have them on both my Cruzbikes, set to the easiest possible clip-out. Have never had unintentional clip-out. I use the single-release cleats rather than the multi-release.

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

Yes, the bar is close enough that it makes sitting up all the way problematic. Block of rubber, though your thermoplastic method looks interesting. The front shim is only thick enough, less than 1 cm, to get the ribs of the seat away from the wings.

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

There's plenty of room to move the slider away, and I pipe-cutter adjusted the boom (inner part) by several cm when I built the bike up. The bars won't go out any farther without hitting my legs, though. That may be what I'm looking for. Definitely cheaper than a new slider! No, those are the...

Thor seat on S30v2 vs. handlebar height

Using the instructions from several seat/neckrest threads, I've installed a small Thor Sport G seat on my S3ov2. After a few short rides, I like it--I can even ride without a neckrest. But now I need help with handlebar positioning. The seat put my shoulders a lot farther forward, making my...

CRUZBIKE A67 WHEEL SET TUBLESS CONVERSION

I had 28mm Rivendell Ruffy Tuffy (Panaracer) tires on my Silvio 1.5. The Continental 4 Seasons tires on my S30 are nominally 28mm, but 26mm by actual measure on my particular wheels.

Anyone set up their Q45 as a 29er (700c) yet?

It may be possible. There's enough clearance for fenders with the stock 26" x 1.75" tires, so a 700c should fit. Even the old Quest v3 with the unsuspended front would take a narrow 700c. Someone else put 650B wheels on theirs. https://cruzbike.com/forum/threads/quest-2-700c.8053/#post-29236...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

The Cruzbike Quest v2 (Q451) was my first two-wheeled bent, almost 4 years ago. I could ride it the first day, but it took me several months of drills and neighborhood rides to really be confident (I was also slow learning to ride a bike as a kid). Now I can ride it one-handed for as long as I...
