Setting knee clearance and x-seam on the silvio 1.5

There seems to be some confusion around independently setting the knee clearance/handlebar position and the bottom bracket position/x-seam length on the Silvio 1.5. I've placed a short blog entry showing how to do this. http://cruzbike.com/setting-knee-clearance-and-x-seam-silvio-15...

What fork for Conversion Kit with V2/K frameset?

V2K Fork My SRV2.1 drawings indicate a design distance of 420mm between the axle dropout center and the bottom of the head tube, using the Sofrider fork. 456mm should be acceptable; several V2K's have been built with the Rock Shock Dart fork, which is available with 80 or 100mm travel...

Is the Quest 2 front shock adjustable?

Quest fork The Quest fork is not adjustable per se. If you remove the steering column and look down into the fork, there is a round plug with an allen head hole in it. If you remove this plug you'll find a suspension fork spring underneath. I suspect this spring could be replaced with...

What fork for Conversion Kit with V2/K frameset?

Interesting fork... You'd have to grind the disk tabs off for the adapter brackets to fit. Looks like they only have one left, if my German is still any good. You would have to modify a fork pretty heavily (spread it to 135mm OLD) and fabricate your own adapter brackets to get discs to...

    Diamondback Donor advice

For the most part... ... that bike looks like it would work pretty well. Take a look, if you will, at the location of the mount for the disc brake caliper on the front fork. If it interferes with the landing point for the upper section of the adapter bracket, it may have to be cut or...

Just got off the phone with Maria...

Among these... ... the Tiara Pro is the only one that really fits the bill. The Kit will bolt on to the others, but the seat height will end up pretty tall. If you are a tinkerer, the Tiara can be made to accept 26" wheels. It makes a pretty nice conversion. There are...

    Where are they made?

Taiwan. Our frames are constructed by a quality, high-volume frame manufacturer in Taiwan, in a city massively devoted to bicycle manufacturing. They manufacture frames for many bike brands you might be familiar with, including some other recumbent manufacturers. We teamed up with them...

    Torque settings

Torque Settings... ...are determined by fastener characteristics. This chart is very useful, in inch-lbs or NM: http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorqueNm.aspx http://www.cncexpo.com/MetricBoltTorque.aspx

Couple of questions (fork + triangle bracket)

Use any hole that works... Hi Dave, On most forks it's not imperitive that the upper mount sit flat, preferred, but not a must. If the fork is aluminum it's best to make sure this connection doesn't fret the fork. You can snip off the extra material in the band clamp - just make usre...

    Silvio front gear cable arrangement?

Housing selection for derailleur cable housing loop This loop of cable should be made from 250mm (10") of brake cable housing. Since this section of cable isn't under compression, we want it to retain its cross-sectional circularity rather than its length, and some flexibility is useful...

    Handlebars

That pretty well nails it... Using vertical drops, you'll need a wider bar (basically, 46cm - widest available and not too many choices) unless you raise the bar a bit to assure you have knee clearance. Maria's yellow Silvio record bike was set up that way, but those bars were selected for...

    Silvio front gear cable arrangement?

See Photos here; http://www.cruzbike.com/silvio-15-pictures More will be forthcoming soon. The bike pictured is a final pre-production prototype, so the braze-on for the final cable stop is in a different place than on the production version, which places it on the slider tube instead...

adapt front QR wheel to rear

Magnesium... ... is a principal component of military flares. If you set it on fire, water won't put it out. (don't ask me why I know this...) Better to cut the towers off with a hacksaw and file the stubs down with a flat bastard file. You'll get a better resulting finish that way...

    Trouble installing Triple Crank

Yes... A 123mm English 68mm bottom bracket should fit fine. The current BB may be difficult to remove, since the factory where the bike is assembled tends to be much warmer than the environment where you're working (the aluminum BB shell will contract with the temperature change.)...

    Silvio 1.5 build help

Paint... The frame cutting tolerances are correct, but they don't allow for paint thickness, which is variable and tends to the thick side (which is good for paint durability.) It's not unusual to have to sand a bit of paint off the inside of the dropouts (where the axle stub goes in, not...

    Trouble installing Triple Crank

Sounds like you will need a different bottom bracket... Which version Sofrider is this, 8 or 16 speed? Measure the distance from the middle of the center chainring to the center of the boom tube. It should be 47 - 50mm for a mountain-type triple crank. Road and MTB cranks tend to sit...

    Reasonable donor bike

Foreign frame sourcing Yes, BD, I know what you mean. There is a particularly interesting tandem sold only in the UK that I think would make a fine Cruzbike tandem, but I can't get anyone to ship me one. I'd pay the stupid shipping plus the cost of the bike to get it here; I really want a...
