Your Max Speed on a Cruzbike

Not going to make it. My employer doesn't understand my cycling habit.... See you in New Bern.

Your Max Speed on a Cruzbike

I was getting ready when I saw you roll past with Bob O's group. We need to get together at some point. Hope your pneumonia gets better before Bike MS.

Your Max Speed on a Cruzbike

46.1 MPH on my V20 on hill south of Harris Lake near Corinth, NC. Probably could hit 50 on that hill with a sprint at the top, but 46.1 is plenty fast enough for me.

    Visibility Flags

Okay, let's settle this folks. In your first picture it looks like you have Conti 4000II S tires. And it looks like the shark fins are going the wrong way. So, do I have mine mounted backwards, or does Jason?

    Riding with DF groups

My apologies if this has been covered before. I couldn't find anything in search. I'm wondering what others do when riding socially with a group of DF riders. Do you hang in the back and enjoy the draft? Do you mix in with the pace line, even though the guy behind you is missing out on drafting...

The Road to 500 miles in 24hrs

I get this one more than the others. A guy told me yesterday I needed to put an orange flag on my bike so cars could see me.

Concerns about a lower seat angle: anyone been there?

I went straight from a DF to the Vendetta. Other than the usual learning curve with MBB and balance in a reclined position, I had little trouble adapting. The aerodynamic advantages over my old DF make me smile every time I ride. Headwinds don't bother me much when riding solo. Going downhill is...

    Steering damper/stabilizer

I agree, steering damper is not necessary. There are times during the learning curve where I might have thought differently, but I figured it out, as most people do. As far as front end flop - a device you could put on when not riding to make loading, carrying, storage, etc. easier is not a...

    How to be safe from....?

I don't normally take any extra precautions. However, if I regularly rode where this type of crime was common, I would probably wear a helmet camera and bring some sort of equalizer, like pepper spray.

    Mid-Atlantic 12/24 - August 20, 2016

I notice in your picture that you aren't wearing gloves. They do help with the grip problem, especially if your hands are sweaty. Another thing you can do is ride one handed frequently to give one hand or the other a break. I also frequently keep my palms on the grips and wave my fingers for a...

    Sore back V20

I think this would interfere with steering and inhibit or eliminate slow speed, short radius turns. Also, mounting and dismounting would be more difficult. Because your spine is supported along its entire length by the seat, there should be no compression. Good luck to you!

    Headache from riding V

My knees hurt from looking at that photo. I went from 175mm cranks on DF to 165mm on my V20. With my short legs, I should probably look into even shorter cranks. Dialing in the proper boom length took a while for me, but riding pain free now. Good luck Pete.

Chain WAXing (yes it's that easy) - and other mysteries of this art!

For all you Daniel Sans out there with 11 speed chains, do you use a master link or do you drive out and replace a chain pin every time you wax? Is there a master link out there compatible with Shimano 11 speed chains, or must I $pend on a new chain?

    Sensor(y) overload!

I thought he was at first. Other people on the ride said he wasn't joking. He cussed at another guy who missed a clip-in in front of him later in the ride.

    Sensor(y) overload!

Yesterday, some idiot on our social, 15 (MPH) pace group ride yelled at me, "That is not a UCI certified bike! You need to get in the back!":rolleyes:

    For Sale: One-of-a-kind V2.

Do you use a master link or bust the chain pin out? With your kind of mileage, seems like you would have to wax every other week.

Three things come to mind. That is a gorgeous bike. Hope your health issues get fixed. I need to stop greasing my chain and wax it!

    Sensor(y) overload!

Can't remember this happening to me, but I've had a couple of Harley's slow down, get next to me and jump on the throttle. I had a guy in a log truck blast his horn in my ear while on a slow climb right as he was passing. Was on a group ride a couple of years ago on a back country road with...
