    Direct drive recumbent.

On BROL (but I couldn't find On BROL (but I couldn't find it when I looked) somebody make a direct drive (the pedals were centered on the hub of the wheel) trike. I believe it was an 8 or 11 speed hub. So it's definitely possible. I agree with John that this doesn't really make much...

Involuntary pedal steer wobble when changing gears

I always back of a little bit I always back of a little bit when shifting, but I've never noticed it. I ride without hands and shift all the time, so my guess is that this is something that will (mostly?) go away with more experience.

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Oh sure.... I suggest the Oh sure.... I suggest the sticker and Rick expands it to a "stick" and he gets all the credit. Hmmmph. Well, in that case: * Use a stick (or a hanger) as Rick suggested. * On the handlebar end, mount a (cut metal) hanger such that it also points over...

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

Hi Everybody, I could very Hi Everybody, I could very easily be wrong here (I haven't been wrong in a while so I'm due... :P). In my mind, I see the riser twisting. It could indeed be the handlebars flexing (in which case Shahmatt's suggestion may (or may not) help). I don't have a...

    I rode it

I went pretty low and almost For what it's worth, I think this is something of a matter of preference whether your a spinner or masher. For really steep hills, I really like just spinning my way up. So when I'm at 2-3 mph, I have a higher cadence (I'm in 24x32 with a cadence much...

Hi Larry, In addition to the Hi Larry, In addition to the official offerings, you can use the SRAM MTB derailleur with the road shifters, so you can get nice and long cages... (I believe this is what Eric did). Cheers, Charles

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

I don't think a stiffener I don't think a stiffener would work in this case because I think it's the Cruzbike steerer extender that's twisting. Replacing this piece with something heaftier may be your best bet.

    "energy-sucking handlebar-on-a-stick" ???

I agree it's not ideal. I I agree it's not ideal. I don't think there's much that can easily be done on these bikes (Quest, Sofrider, conversions). On the Silvio and Vendetta, the lever arm is much smaller, so the problem is greatly reduced. I guess it's possible to replace the large stem...
