    And so it begins...

Powdercoat The idea that you had sounds great and I'd love to see the technique in practice. Not all powdercoaters deal with specialty approaches, although your finish looks great. I assume it's a candy powder over a silver base? It looks like it would be.

looking for riding tips with toe-clips or snap in shoes, general steering and uphill/downhill riding

My Answers What kind of experience has anyone had when switching from regular pedals to toe clips or snap in cleats? I started on the stock platform pedals until I was comfortable in riding the bike on my neighborhood MUP. Since I have been riding clipless since I was 13, I switched over...

    And so it begins...

Watching this thread I have been watching this thread and it's an interesting one. First of all, I like the color; but I think that "Vendetta Yellow" looks faster. I am looking forward to seeing the graphics that are planned. I assume there is no intent to embed them in a clear coat, since the...

    Adjustable Front Tube Sticking

PB Blaster Spray a generous dose of PB Blaster onto the tube where it enters the outer boom tube and allow it time for it to completely wick downward; overnight is often more than enough time. Then follow Vargas' advice. My Silvio's boom was similarly stuck and this approach worked for me.

Silvio 2.0 has a secret - ride into the wind

I always think of riding into I always think of riding into a head wind as climbing without the reward of actually conquering a climb. And then I get depressed. No one ever brags about conquering a wicked head wind.

Rotor Q ring not suitable for recumbents?

Thanks, Vargas A picture is worth a thousand words, indeed. I am running a 50T/34T Rotor Ring setup, and I clearly had mine configured improperly for my Silvio. I initially had the crankset and rings on a DF, and the rings were installed per Rotor's directions. Wouldn't it be great if...

    Jim Parker Blog - AOMM

Agreed! It was a good read, indeed. I would LOVE to know what their average climbing speeds were on the last 4 miles and also how Bill's Hill was.

Are you running a Garmin/Barfly setup on your CB?

I mounted my Garmin Edge 605 I mounted my Garmin Edge 605 to the left of the clamp on my Silvio. Originally, I wanted to center the unit, but that was more of a need for symmetry over anything else. It's certainly not a problem, since it's still directly in my view.

    Rumor has it...

I'm holding you to that "if it takes a Rohloff I will have it, and AndrewBaloga can have my current one." I'm praying now for a Rohloff-specific option. :-)

Correct way to assemble seat-pan and seat-back interface

You have it right: Allen bolt You have it right: Allen bolt head, washer, seat back, grommet, seat pan, washer, knob. Even though there are two washers, sometimes even just one leaves barely enough thread for the knob to grip onto. If I were building a Quest, I would personally leave out...

    Two split-rubber tubes labelled "Jagwire"

Frame Protectors Hi, Roy. Those are used to buffer the cable housing where it contacts the frame, mainly around the headtube area. The benefit is that it minimizes paint wear.

Tenacious Lemons Seth, During a function at my fifth-grade daughter's school, one of the students was named "Tenacious Lemons", or so I thought. I was disappointed when my daughter showed me the girl's real name in her yearbook. It was close, but not as good as what I thought I heard.

Silvio v1.5 Not so long ago, there was a pristine (NOS) 1.5 in a warehouse somewhere northeast of where I am. She was a beauty, but someone who wanted a Silvio but not the reclined angle of the new one bought it. Seth, Is would you be interested in keeping the Silvio if the fit could...
