Riding with a rear deraileur stuck in 1 speed

Yes it’s a nightmare. But usually the shift changes becoming less than acceptable give warnings. On a recent audax ride it got down to minus 7 deg c. My mate was piloting a roto Velo and snap no rear mech. But this guy is Pete heal and well despite the iced up broken cable he was capable of...

    Dialing in a S30

Years late I put an inflatable inner tube section into my headrest. The improvement in comfort was manifest and transformed the ride. Highly recommend you revisit your headrest. Experiment. Common to have it too far in. Your other mods are great. What works for you and keeps you riding is all...

    Scarab bag bike touring

They are a quality product expensive though and not water proof. I used dry bags. I carried a one man tent air mattress clothes and sleeping quilt all ultra light gear. It was a tight fit. Only 25 litres. The bags when empty are problematic in that they are not constrained. But full they...

    Rotor Q-ring advice

Nah it’s not all sad. It’s mostly beautiful mate . It is a broad church full of interesting facts and opinions and how boring would it be if we all were the same.

    Rotor Q-ring advice

No angst please. It’s just salted nuts. Team cruzbike. I enjoy reading all contributions. But never when it gets emotionally willing. Keep up the good work.

    Rotor Q-ring advice

If it feels good for you then that’s all that matters. What happens between the ears is fundamental to any cycling performance peak or otherwise. Just ride with a smile and if oval rings are merely bling with efficacy issues then so be it. It’s tough to remove confirmation bias. I...

How to almost wipe out on an S40

Yes it’s something to avoid. Deadly combination of fatigue and speed. A locked out leg can also give issue on fast descents that are lumpy bumpy. It is a matter of familiarity and practice. Glad you are okay . Be safe.

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Probably just unlucky. Remind me not to buy your m5 lol. Any tyre flat that presents only one edge of the rim is going to result in a slide and an off most likely. Pray for flat straight roads. The vendetta seems to get more front flats and wears front tyre out first. But the advantage of...

    Fun with crank lengths

I like my 155 mm cranks I’m 6 1” they are great for form easy to spin up and allow more adjustments all at a naturally higher cadence. . But I also am happy on 170 mm preferring them on hills to the shorter cranks especially with physical fatigue onset.

    Fun with crank lengths

Yes subjectively set up is unique to an individual. Look at what froome looks like on the bike. What feels right is much more important than what is right. That’s why 99% of df riders are slower than they need be. Lol. Happy birthday nan.

Is Larry going to the DARK side ????

Larry unless you are extremely flexible and can tolerate butt pain to the gonads don’t mind numb peckerwoodnuts a sore neck back and don’t mind no view at a slower speeds then what you already know will still be the case. When I first purchased a vendetta I thought what have I done. Till I knew...

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

I reckon if you can brace your back against a bent seat then your absolute neuromuscular power potential is made able so more power is possible on a bent not less dependent on seat back angle. To the point where you can hurt yourself. I reckon laying down my heart works less hard. As such I...

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Well he rides a lot and on the rivet. And truth is he crashes no more or less than the next cyclist. He merely generously makes public his entire cycling experience. Getting a flat at high speed is a lottery. But if I’m to crash it’s the vendetta that offers the best way to do it. If you...

    Road bike vs. recumbent comparison

Horses for courses and nags for the knackery fields. Of course as we age (and most of us here are getting on ) we are less capable and able in terms of explosive neuromuscular sprint efforts. Far better then to focus on raising your threshold closer to VO2 max and getting the most out of...

    Larry’s memorial ride.

Ouch great ride and report. Sorry you caught the gravel. Well done on getting on with it. Tough stuff. Of course someone will make a joke about the keys. So it may as well be me. Lol.
