Forum postings seem to be out of order

Forums quite messed up, Forums quite messed up, still. I was unable to post this morning. Response box wasn't visible. Threads still out of order.

    Be careful going down hill

When you are pedaling but the I'm not sure I completely buy that (for whatever that's worth). If you start spinning wildly but are in a gear where you are propelling forward, I think you'll find that your still wobbly. I think your body just needs a bit to get used to balancing again...

    Conversion converted

Very Nice. Two comments: 1) Very Nice. Two comments: 1) You may want a shorter seatpost as it might hit the frame when compressed (sawing it is a cheap option). 2) Instead of the (somewhat convoluted) steering spacers (moving it from the fork forward a few inches and then moving...

    Be careful going down hill

Hi Billy, I think there are a Hi Billy, I think there are a few different effects that are contributing here. 1) Sitting upright on a DF is more stable than sitting reclined on a 'recumbent. (Just like sitting up on a DF is more stable than being in a tuck on a diamond frame). This...

I have found that when My experience is consistent with this as well. Just start up slowly and go from there.

Is it a Softrider or a Freerider

Hi Jim,Great pictures!  I Hi Jim, Great pictures! I really enjoy the bottom one where you show how to get it done! I sometimes (used to??) pull one or both kids in a trailer (they're both big enough for trail-a-bikes now). I really appreciated my low gearing (less than 17") when...

    New homemade fairing for Quest

Cool fairing! Thanks for the Cool fairing! Thanks for the detailed post! I'll be curious how your new fairing performs aerodynamically compared to your previous one (roll down tests if you get bored or curious enough would be very cool!)

Very nice! For the light in Very nice! For the light in the back, maybe consider putting a red film over the light. You want to make sure people don't think you're moving in the opposite direction that you really are going...

Converting a delta trike to a Cruzbike drivechain

For what it's worth, I'm For what it's worth, I'm really hoping to see a tilting MBB delta trike as that might really take the edge off of the tilting...

    UPDATE ON QUEST

Nice update!  Glad things are Nice update! Glad things are progressing well for you. I think the Quest (and particularly the 451, but the 559 as well) are brilliant bikes because they do break down so nicely. Carrying the bike with you in your truck is brilliant for all sorts of reasons. :)

    Women named Maria kick @$$

O.k. This has nothing to do with Cruzbikes. But it's still very cool. For those of you who haven't been paying attention, Maria Leijerstam became the first individual to reach the South Pole under pedal power (she used a recumbent trike). Pretty damn cool (if not downright cold)!

silvio 2- how slow can you go?

On both of my Cruzbikes, I On both of my Cruzbikes, I can maintain less than 3 mph. If the hill is very steep, I sit up to put more weight on the front wheel. A small amount of wheel slippage can still happen, but it usually won't stop me from climbing. I do have a lot of trouble starting...

Is it a Softrider or a Freerider

A layback seat post can give A layback seat post can give you a lot more room as well as a lower seat angle. I also like having my arms straighter than what Jim has. p.s. Note that Maria isn't riding a Vendetta, but rather the mythical yellow Silvio in that picture. :D

    conversion kit

probably.  One reason for the probably. One reason for the brackets for the conversion is for exactly this issue: that the front forks are always more narrow than the drive wheel. I don't have any good pictures available right now, but google around to get a close up...

Where exactly does the boom clamp go?

$80 bucks an hour is a fair You're right. It appears that he charged as if he was skilled labor, but it shouldn't take skilled labor 7 1/2 hours to put a Silvio together. I guess the moral of the story is, for anybody using a shop to put their Cruzbike together, get a completely...
