Elliptical chain rings don't work ...

Starting out... don't go with Q rings as the riding is smoother with the dynamic boom. With Q rings the dynamic boom oscillates more.... a twitch on the handlebar compensates and when used correctly creates more power thru the pedals. Larry doesn't see this so much because of two things... his...

    Little tweaks

I spent too long doing this. Being a bike mechanic must be highly stressing at times. Now I have to get on it and prove that it's safe and faster. Back to my figure of eights I reckon. The bike looks as though it's giving me the finger. So why am I concerned? They are narrower by a...

Dynamic-boom vs. Fixed-boom Recumbent Bicycle Power Production

I pdf'ed the brol discussion... it's 20 pages. I reckon chainrings have a different dynamics. The rotor QXL ring accelerates on the dead spot, therefor I would have thought the load going thru the pedal would have a bigger dynamic effect thru the boom. I know that I am faster using a normal...

    Deep Rims

You should be fine if you let the silicon caulk dry out on the stem of the valve before using it. I left mine for a day and a half. I had a good ride this morning and the tire was rock hard when finished.

Well I did quite well with strava live segments today. I set my goals as to halve the KOM - 1 from my PB. This works quite well for me. So now I can reward myself with fixing the new carbon aero base bar on. Let's see what the dynamics are with that change. They are narrower and the cda should...

Does Cycling Cause Brittle Bones? Is a recumbent worse?

I started to play tennis, I can't believe how much I am aching and I thought I was fit! (Well I use to get Mickey Mouse sweat marks but now I don't get any)

Does Cycling Cause Brittle Bones? Is a recumbent worse?

Mountain biking is the way to balance out the week. Mountain bikers don't have brittle bones and a change is as good as a rest. Time to get out there on the dips and highs... just don't do it on your V.

    Paris-Roubais

Unthinkable to do that on the V. It's so bad some of the big manufacturers are putting in shock absorbers on to their road bikes.

    Deep Rims

If you haven't got latex tubing you can use silicon caulk , just put it around the neck of the valve and let it dry for a day and a half and then put it in and inflate the tire. It's been up for 5 hours and it's still rock hard

Well here is the pic from the engineering company. They say they weigh 820g.

T50 - Everyone likes a bike you can kick start

I saw many recumbents in Florida in February with a dog seat on the back with a little dog looking over the shoulder of the rider. Now that's a shot that would sell a million T50s.

Elliptical chain rings don't work ...

I can understand the argument but I had to find 4 different sellers of Rotor QXL rings before I found one that hadn't sold out. Q rings seem to help my knees so I will stick with them.

    questions about power meters?

I got a message from the watteam, my idea was to buy the power meter for the Shimano Ultrgra 6800 165mm cranks and put it on the Sram Rival. As the crank is probably stiffer, but they said if they had to give a refund with that sort of abuse then they wouldn't give a refund. So I might just buy...

    questions about power meters?

I'll keep you posted. I did get a warning but the engineering company I used said it looks good. I used 172mm sram rival cranks. If it was for a DF then I certainly wouldn't use it. But for a recumbent on the flats - mainly ... I won't be going more than 300 watts. Engineering is a science of...

    New Bike Blues

Gosh... now where did I put that plastic bag with the old dirty triple crank? Guess that might find itself on a T50 LOL (But clean though)

    questions about power meters?

Watteam powerbeat looks very interesting to me. It looks ideal as it's not based on the pedals, if the bike goes down with a pedal scrape the power meter is out of the way. Sure I know it probably won't give 100%readings but it sure would be better than the powercal chest strap that I have and...

    Deep Rims

I have a valve leak. Really annoying. I am using the Schwalbe valve with extender on a 80mm deep rim. I can't see any punctures but after 5 hours it deflates to 40psi and then doesn't go down further. I am thinking of tightening the valve really tightly failing that I will take it off and use...
