    trainer help

Just make sure you put the bike into the trainer in the right direction relative to the drive wheel. Common mistake with FWD bikes. I know of at least one trainer that blew up because of this. Mark

    Please vet my Silvio Build

Coming into this conversation late, my apologies. I don't like compact setups. They wear out chainrings prematurely because they encourage cross chaining and that scrubs material off chainrings. It's inevitable. I'm a triple guy and I won't budge anytime soon, even though I have a compact...

    I'm Baaaaack!!!!

We go up to see her in a few weeks. I have mixed emotions about that. As anxious as I am to see her, I fear the worst of the angst will return. Gee, thanks! Oddly enough, I believe you! Mark

  Yeah, maybe, who knows? I can probably come up with a story, or two. Mark

    I'm Baaaaack!!!!

Yeah, I know, big deal. I had to take some time away from the boards. My little Cruzing partner has gone away to a six month youth challenge program. I had no idea how much I would miss her! Between moping around and watching the message board and website from her school for updates and...

Radical (re)Design (of the) Solo Racer Bag

I've actually gotten pretty adept at grabbing the bottle from the cage. I might drop the pace by .5 mph, but that's about it. It's really not that much different than grabbing something from your jersey pocket. What makes it a challenge is taking your hand off the handlebar while under power...

    Loose Headset

You're welcome. Keep in mind you still want it to turn freely, but you want all the lateral slop out of it. Mark

    Adjustments Based On My Height

Once you have the bottom bracket and cranks installed, you can sit on the bike and rotate the pedals so you can get an idea where the TFT needs to be set so you get proper leg extension. Then, you want your handlebar set down so it just clears your knees. This is where you want to error on the...

    build #8 will be

Trek Y-26 was the frame the kit was designed to work with. It was a bike shop quality bike, no big box stores have ever sold Trek. No longer in production, my guess is Jack scored on e-bay. Cables and housings, basically. Yes. Mark

    Adjustments Based On My Height

You'll need all the shims, one way, or the other. You can stack them in any order you like, above or below the TFT clamp, but you have to have clearance for the cables to pass over the headtube and down through the cable guides. Also, you will have to do the complete front end build, install...

    Loose Headset

Loosen the two bolts on the TFT clamp, then tighten down the bolt on the top cap. Retighten the bolts on the TFT clamp. That should do it! Mark

    Cruzbike-a cure for midlife crisis?

Arm warmers, maybe leg warmers. 55 degrees isn't bad. Mark

    deraileur mounting question please

I disagree. That rear derailleur and the claw look to be integrated. You should not need a claw with the kit. You need to ditch that derailleur and go buy a regular rear derailleur at the bike shop that will bolt right up to the kit. Unless I missed something, Doug? Mark

    Cruzbike-a cure for midlife crisis?

You want the seat edge, at least on the pan, to protect the bike from itself. I frequently fold my bike in half for transport in my Toyota Matrix; allows the bike to become a small package and can be hauled like this without removing any wheels. Without the trim on the seat pan, you would get...

    would this frame work?

It might be close. Judging by the picture of you(?) standing by the built up bike, it looks like the seat pan could be a tad high. Mark

    Cruzbike-a cure for midlife crisis?

Two words for rubber stripping.... Gorilla Glue. Just be careful not to use too much, it expands as it dries. Mark

    Silvio Impressions

I can only speak in the case of the Silvio, but I agree that for awhile, high speed descents were pretty unnerving, especially in high cross-winds. I feel like I have a much better handle on the bike now having gained a lot more confidence in my handling skills. It is a very aggressive bike...
