    Humbing Experience

This past Saturday, we had our monthly SoCal bent ride. This month, we rode on the SART, which is an excellent opportunity to literally fly. We had a nice mix of bikes including a few Carbents and a Carbon Aero 1.0. I usually thrive on being one of the stronger riders and don't worry too...

    Help evaluating "cheaper" donor ideas

Weight is only a problem for your wheels. Inexpensive bikes generally have wheels that are overbuilt for safety. Where you get into trouble is buying high end bikes built for guys that weigh a buck thirty. I weighed all of that and more when I first got back into riding. Too much good beer...

Not a Tiara, but I converted a Trek 24" wheel bike to 650c without changing out the fork. Mark

Vertical storing hanging from a wall?

I was around there a year ago... No worries, just get real wheels... 32 spokes minimum with decent rims. You'll be fine. There is a hole between the seat pan and the frame that a cable type lock would pass through easily. Mark

    Fast Century

Last week, we did an 85 mile ride out around Tom's Farm south of Corona. While having lunch, several of us decided we would like to do a fast century this weekend, aiming for an 18 mph avg. I was all for it, so a plan was set in motion. I worried a little bit during the week that maybe I had...

Vertical storing hanging from a wall?

It's not that delicate. Even after losing a crap-ton of weight, I'm still 210 pounds and it holds up to me just fine! The weak link is and always will be your wheels. If you get good wheels that are meant for a rider of your weight and purpose, the bike will be just fine! Mark

Vertical storing hanging from a wall?

Why do you think it might not hang like that, Jon? That's more or less how I store mine. Mark

    Back to "normal"...

There is a technique, it involves pulling yourself forward by the handlebar. Same thing for sprinting. Mark

    Best for touring?

I pretty much agree with what Jon says. I have a Burley trailer and with the alternate hitch, that attaches to the quick release, I think you could pull it. However, with the carboyoke being bolted to the main frame, I'm not sure it's a good idea to put that kind of load on the joint. Maybe...

    Bottle Cages

I used to hate bottles. The Silvio sort of broke me of that. I can reach the bottles easily, even while cruising at speeds over 20 mph.. Mark

    torque values for Silvio construction

The only thing I ever torque is my wife. She gets torqued when I don't take out the trash and she gets torqued when I leave the toilet seat up. Personally, I wish she'd put it back up when she's through, but i keep my cool about it. Mark
