Fit a Silvio into a Plane bike box 1.44m*0.81m*0.29m

Yes, you could remove both wheels. Because the derailleur can be taken out of the front triangle without affecting your shifting adjustment, it's doable. I'm just not sure you would need to. Mark

Fit a Silvio into a Plane bike box 1.44m*0.81m*0.29m

I haven't done it, but I think you would only have to remove the rear wheel, just like you would remove the front wheel on a DF bike. I measure the widest point, the seat, at about 11.25 inches, which will barely fit the width... Really tight. I suspect that collapsing the TFT as much as...

    possible tandem frame

Not only is the stoker low, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to get foot clearance with the Captain's seat. That's my thinking, anyway. Mark

    Short cranks

Well now.... Here we go. This morning, coming in to work with the short cranks, I averaged 18 mph. Not quite what I got out of the 175s, but not far off. Thruthfully, it could be attributed to the 50 tooth big ring opposed to a 52. Maybe the answer is to get used to one length and stick...

    possible tandem frame

Thanks. Definitely the captain would have to be an experienced Cruzer. I don't think the stoker would matter much. Mark

    23 0r 25 tires?

You already need new tires, Jack? Mine are still going strong. Man, maybe I better look again! I don't know as you'll see a huge difference. Maybe none, at all. Try e-bay Mark

    possible tandem frame

I don't think Gromit is being ridiculous; it's a legitimate concern, especially if you have no tandem experience. You're right, the stoker can detect the change but it's still a good idea for the captain to communicate, if there's time. Mark

    possible tandem frame

You have to communicate on a tandem. There are commercially available tandems with IPS on them. Even on a standard tandem, where the cranks are fixed together, you have to communicate. It's not fair to the stoker to suddenly stop the pedals and brake without announcing and the stoker has a...

    possible tandem frame

The klt would be the front riders drive system and the back rider would use the front riders former bottom bracket, assuming there is clearance between the stokers foot and the captain's a$$. Yes, it would be dual drive and IPS, all in one! Mark

    Short cranks

Cool! I noticed a pretty dramatic drop-off, but my legs are longer than yours... I'd guess 155's are just titch too short. I'm going to try 165s and see how those go. Mark

    Getting ready for winter...

Actually, the summers are perhaps more unbearable than the winters around here. Mark

Im keeping my eyes open. I found a Sora crankset on e-bay, but I know those have steel rings. Mark

That's because you're shifting your hips. Riding these bikes is all about the hips. Mark

    SoCal Recumbent Ride

This past Saturday, we had anouther SoCal recumbent bike gathering. There were only four this time, but we had a picture perfect day for riding! Fredwina did a terrific job in setting up the route. She said there would be climbing, but in my mind's eye, it was pretty darned flat. It was...

    Commute to work

I've been commuting enough this year that it's usually hard to get worked up enough to bother with a ride report. Besides, if I posted commuting reports very often, they would get pretty boring. Yesterday was quite warm, well into the nineties, so I suspected it might be a nicer commute this...

    Short cranks

That's my thought, too; go for a happy medium. Maybe 155's go beyond the point of diminishing returns, for me. Mark

    ATTACK!

Amen, brother, life does get in the way, sometimes. Glad to see you back, glad you're riding a lot, but it sucks about getting attacked. Glad you are OK. Mark
