Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

Thanks Jon - It was a pretty nice windless day so I can't complain about that. A few things that could have helped me go faster: A warmer day, since it was in the upper 50's when we started - You ride faster when it is hotter. If I could have worn my Casco speedtime helmet, but it fogged up...

Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

Missing some digits I think Ken: Fastest Century for UMCA is 3:46:16 (indoor velodrome) I rode it in 3:48:01 (actually I think it is getting revised to 3:48:10) That is 1 min 54 secs slower.

Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

It still qualifies as unfaired because it is not a "true" tailbox. It is actually a complete seat with a "drink holder and storage compartment" built into the structure. It does not join the wind flow back together so it is not a tailbox any more than the Cruzbike's race-case is a tailbox. Bad...

Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

Ken, it has been touch and go as I had several people drop out at the last minute. But I do now have 3 officials and 1 support crew which is the bare minimum. Thank-you to Tony Holloway who also volunteered to make the 4-5 hour drive up to help if needed! I am up in Northbrook now (a 12 hour...

    Mixing Cruzbike with RWDs

I switch back and forth between a Vendetta and a RWD Cf bike by John Morciglio. I do not have any problems, but since I ride primarily with little to no hand input (I ride with a single 12" straight bar - my "stubby") on my Vendetta, that is probably why I do not notice much difference.

    That disappointment you get when..

How long is the segment? Must not be long if you are putting out that many watts: under 5 minutes I assume!

I put a car horn on my Silvio

I would buy one if the could make it go "beep, beep" (Road Runner) sound instead!

    NJ and TT's

Congrats! I'd join you if NJ was not so far away. I don't have any advice to give you about asking to add recumbents as a class within your state. I have tried to get them to add them to Senior Games in NC and all they tell me is that they follow UCI rules. No hope if the is the case.

Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

Thanks Ken - Yes many velodromes do not even allow a non-fixed bikes. Northbrook is different as it is not a "real" velodrome in the sense of the super high bank corners, etc. It is banked but not nearly as much, which makes riding at sub-30 mph speeds much easier actually. I was considering...

Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

That 3:43 was a group ride that Marc mentioned. UMCA records have to be solo attempts. That record stands at 3:46:16. - still eye watering. I did a 3:47:46 on my local track without any support about 2 years ago "just for fun". I was stronger then I think, so I hope I can break it. The...

Team Cruzbike RAAM 2017 - As Seen on Facebook

haha - That is really funny! What was the date of that? I guess in a way I did that, but Century and Double were probably solo. Did my first 12-hour at Mid-Atlantic on my Silvio, then my first 24-hour next Feb at Sebring. (I was not mentally prepared for 24 at Sebring however - as it was pretty...

Help Needed for Century & 6-Hour record attempt

Hi All, Since it has been a "slow" year for me, I scheduled a Century and 6-hour track record attempt. I will be attempting to break the fastest UMCA time recorded (any bike, any age rider) for a century. The record currently stands at 3:46:16 by Micheal Secrest back in 2011. It was on a indoor...

    Big Jay's Fat @$$ - 6-hour - Another Cruzbike Victory

Very dirty - We rode on many divide type highways with major traffic. We were told to ride on the apron. That is were I always got my flats.

    Big Jay's Fat @$$ - 6-hour - Another Cruzbike Victory

Funny Hardy. :p:D:rolleyes: As far as major events go, I think I am up to 7 for this year (2017) actually! It has been a good year. Mostly attribute this to tubless and a little luck. 1.) Sebring 12-hour (264m)- no flats - no wrecks 2.) HPRA racing at Brian Picollo Veledrome - no flats - no...

    Big Jay's Fat @$$ - 6-hour - Another Cruzbike Victory

Here is my report from my Big Jay's 6-hour ride this last weekend, July 15th. It was the UMCA's 6-hour National Championship. New 6-hour course record to boot. Enjoy. Video to follow. https://www.dropbox.com/s/sr6wjslgxi8mbox/Big Jays - 2017.pdf?dl=0
