SOLID Tannus Tire Testing on my V20

Hi Suzie, The speed difference for me was a real moral deflator. I just could not stand to go 3-4 mile per hour slower even if I knew I was pushing the watts I needed to train. If the time or distance you are riding does not matter and you can handle, I think they will do the job well. They...

How to Humiliate a group of carbon DFs Singlehanded!!

Interesting MMB bike. I would be a little concerned about the flimsy looking "chain-stay". It does not look like it could handle too much power or lateral force. I also think it would be a little harder to make power with my feet so low. But he seems to be able to ride it just fine. Agree with...

How to Humiliate a group of carbon DFs Singlehanded!!

Haha. how true. But yes, the wide bars did help a little on the climbs like Wolf Creek Pass, we were at about 11,000'. I just put the narrow bars back on . I will be riding in the UMCA's 6-hour Championship this Saturday. The event is Big Jay's Fat Ass in Mahomet, IL.

    2017 National 24-Hour Challenge

Thanks for the update Joe - Nice to see that you recovered. Looks like N24HC conditions mimicked RAAM - killer high temps good for heat exhausting in the west and plains for the first few days, then violent storms, bringing hail, horrible winds and rain as we crossed the Appalachian mountains...

History of Recumbent Teams in Race Across America

I think it is a 1/2 mph faster because the official distance was really 3143.9 miles (because lots of detours) and not 3070 as is shown in the results. This is from the "leaderboard" oh their website: Hopefully RAAM will come forward with an "official" distance

    Team Cruzbike RAAM 2017

The rumble strips were pretty horrible. On some aprons there were actually 2 different sets - one a foot wide where they painted the lane, then about another foot to the left was a wider one (about 2 feetwide) , but not as deep. You could barely see it when you where driving, but still hell to...

Hey Joe, How did you make out at the N24HC?

    Team Cruzbike RAAM 2017

Maria and Jim shared a 15-passenger van with a pilot and navigator. They had beds in the back and a row of seats right behind the front bucket seats. .. Kevin and I had pretty much the same setup, except Kevin's wife, Gretchen was also in the van with us all the time. Kevin bought two cots from...

    Team Cruzbike RAAM 2017

Hi All, Yes I am finally home in Hendersonville. Arrived late afternoon yesterday (Sunday). I just finished reading this thread - great stuff. I apologize for not being able to post to it while I was riding - Have the time I did not have a signal anyway. Ratz did tell me how everyone was...

    Team Cruzbike RAAM 2017

Ratz did a special customization to my Vendetta! Thanks Bob. Now all I need is a "horn" button that makes the sound so I can play it as I pass riders! :)

    Team Cruzbike RAAM 2017

We are almost ready to go. We went and practiced the Glass Elevator decent yesterday, down to the Christmas circle in Boreggo Springs. It was 109 degrees there when we arrived. It was like riding in a blast furnace! Here is a video of it from the front of my bike:

RAAM time to spread the word again about 3000 miles to a cure

Yeah - nothing to add a little confusion to the mix! :)

RAAM time to spread the word again about 3000 miles to a cure

I hope no one started! I'm sitting at the airport right now 5:51am EDT waiting to get on my plane to Oceanside! Correct - RAAM teams start on Saturday the 17th at 12 noon (although I am not 100% sure of the time zone. RAAM seems to want everything on the EDT time, so not sure if the 12 noon is...

RAAM time to spread the word again about 3000 miles to a cure

I am bringing a "wedge" to stick behind my seat (to make it 30 instead of 20 degrees) for extended climbs. This changes my hip angle and I am able to make more power. I will not be as aero, but it doesn't matter when you are only going 10-12mph. I could always make more power on the Silvio...

History of Recumbent Teams in Race Across America

Team are allowed to have more than one rider on the course at the same time, so drafting your own teammate is allowed. But it is a better strategy to only have 1 rider on the road at a time. I do not think you are allowed to draft off of other team's riders.

RAAM time to spread the word again about 3000 miles to a cure

We each have a Quarq, and when not riding the bike it will be off, so only one should be on and visible at a time. Rotation times: Our plan is to ride as 2 teams of 2 riders in 6 hour sessions. That gives each team a nice 6 hour break evrey 6 hours. Kevin and I will most likely do pulls anywhere...

    Special RAAM Vendetta reveal

I still prefer my little stubby handlebar, especially on the flats. I rode exclusively with them for better part of a year and a half. That is about 25K miles. It is hard to go back to the full handlebar. Biggest issue I have is it getting in the way of getting going and sharp turns. I am still...

    Special RAAM Vendetta reveal

LOL! There was nothing muffled about! Rather embarrassing to say the least. Oh well, I'm human - every once and awhile I can't hold it in.

    Special RAAM Vendetta reveal

It all happened because I needed to get a front end alignement on my RAAM follow van. Just thought I would take the Vendetta out of the stall and get a few easy recovery miles on the road. Well - all I have to say is that it is a good thing that Ratz is my back-up...
