    Bessie's Creek 2017

I am definitely going to this event now. I am going to ride the 6-hour, and will shoot for 150 miles. The weather, the Vendetta, and myself will all have to be perfect for that to happen. I will also have to find someone to hand me bottles because if I have to stop to self-service that will slow...

    Emmit Smith's Grand Fondo

I guess I have a pretty long time to build an "HPV" case around my Vendetta for this race - that should be fun!

    2017 Race and Event Season

3:43 Century: This is very do-able, especially with a strong group. The 10-12 person group in last year's UMCA National Champ Century averaged around 26mph and that included a lot of resting breaks. We did not really go "all out" the whole time, exept for maybe the last 20 minutes. On a local...

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

Ken, I have not tried this. I personally do not think anything but carbs in liquid form will give your muscles the fastest and most usable energy if you are racing or riding at the highest effort "above endurance" levels. This would be things like Time Trials rides/races or record attempts of...

    Vendetta Progression

I did powder coat the entire boom and slider to silver. But I then had to sand off the powder coat off any part of the boom that I wanted to slide into the slider. It was a mess! I would not recommend doing it, unless you "REALLY" want your boom/slider not to be black.

    Comparing Vendetta to DF speeds

Having the true power readings is the best because your HR will lie to you and your perceived effort will feel harder each successive interval (for same power) as you fatigue. I find the best way to compare between 2 things is to have an average power reading per lap on my Garmin, start the lap...

    Comparing Vendetta to DF speeds

Great write-up, and of course confirms what we all know. :) I looked at your Strava files, but did not see any actual power data. All the power numbers are estimated: Are you not using a power meter?

B&W 96002/N Hardcase bicyle shipping box revue

Yes, I believe so - only problem is that you save a good 3 pounds not using the frame - but you are right, in that if you can't mount the bike to the frame, all the parts will settle down to the bottle of the case.

B&W 96002/N Hardcase bicyle shipping box revue

continued: layer 3 layer 4 - padding between wheels and frame the case is hardly filled added another set of wheels just for fun: Case is still not full: - side view; Total weight with both sets of wheels, padding and wheel covers, just under 70 pounds. Not too bad, but Bikeship has a...

B&W 96002/N Hardcase bicyle shipping box revue

OK here is the testing write up and pics> Nice clasps on the side lockable briefcase type latches on the top, supplemented by large velcro strap pull handle, and nice wheels on every corner and one in the center It also came with a frame that you mount a DF bike to, but I could not...

B&W 96002/N Hardcase bicyle shipping box revue

So far I am really impressed with it. A Cadillac of boxes so far. Really nice latches and straps. Something that would ship fairly cheaply with shipbikes (so probably save $150 each round trip when compared to having to send it on the airplane at $150 each way. $450 is retail, but Bob found a...

Farther, Faster, Fitter, Fun - (4F - The unofficial Cruzbike training team and support group)

Fantastic Ken - fantastic traing - racing - and riding. Looking for more good stuff from you. Get ready for Mid-Atlantic Century National Championship in August! It will be a lot of fun!

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Back when I was younger (2015), strong and faster, I rode a local Century+ on my Vendetta. My power meter was probably a little higher as my Garmin Vectors had a habit of kicking out 0's then. But 111.7 mile in 5:27 with 9,738 climbing, and I went up and over a really tough hill at least 3 times...

    Bessie's Creek 2017

Not as flat as Mid-Atl, but 199 climbing feet in 21 miles is not that bad. I'll believe it when I see it though! :D

    Let's talk wheels

Let me know how you do with mounting the tubeless on these. I have a set of 80mm Chinese "tubeless" rims, and I have yet to be able to mount ProOnes on it. One bike shop tried and and failed. Another one "finally" got it, but they charged me extra for how much time it took. I hope they have the...
