I took the pictures from the Left Side and took apart with the bike facing left. Maybe it is the horseback-riding-mount-from-the-left I don't know. It seems easier to see this way. It is definitely easier to get at my quick releases which all are on the left.

What kind of sleeves/legs do you have that you report success with? / would you review them?

You may be trying to mount it upside down or front to back if you have the right shock? Or you might have bought the wrong size (length) because the old Quest and QX100 used a smaller size than the current Q45
