I'd be anxious to hear how the wheel hop is on the front end. I mean, if you hit a bump while powering the drive wheel, do you get momentary losses of traction? Mark

A Silvio Ride is a Fun Ride

There's always somebody better! :| I can ride OK. The muscle memory is there, the desire is there and the strength is there. What's lacking is endurance and aerobic capacity. Most of my problems lie in the fact I let myself get too fat. Now, for just pedaling around town and messing...

So, correct me if I missed something here. The key to increasing traction, besides dialing in suspension and removing weight from my fat butt, is reducing tire pressure? Currently, I like to run 100 PSI. Perhaps reducing the tire pressure on the front to, say, 90 PSI will increase the contact...

A Silvio Ride is a Fun Ride

Thanks, Rick! I was ready to get back into cycling, yes. I had been trying, on my Bachetta, to get enthused and ride more. This had been going on for a year and yet, except for a handful of Saturdays, my riding was confined to the Sunday morning breadfast ride. The Silvio changed all that...

A Silvio Ride is a Fun Ride

Honest to goodness, this bike has not only rekindled my interest in cycling, it has set it fully ablaze! I really look forward to outings on my Silvio. Pickings were slim for local rides this week as many riders were out of town for pay rides. One group was going to do some mountain riding...

    It's here!

Mmmm, bike porn. I don't own a Sofrider, but I would suggest moving your seat forward and extending your TFT. Moving your seat forward will redistribute your weight over the front wheel more and alleviate some of the wheel slip issues. So basically, but doing these two things, you're keeping...

I'm running a 30-23, also. I would think that would be pretty stiff. I go 250 and when I hit a bump with the shock at 125, the front wheel comes off the ground momentarily. Under power on a climb, NOT a good thing. Today, I reduced my pressure to 110 and that really seemed to help. I'm...

Did you hear about the sensitive guy that.... Oh,wait.. I did a crude measurement of my balance fore and aft and it appears I'm about 51% rear and 49% front. I'm a little surprised (pleasantly) by this apparent good balance. I'm going to keep an eye on this as I lose weight, but I...

    Silvio and Climbing

I'd like to hear from other Silvio riders and tell me about your climbing experiences. I've had a few issues off and on with front wheel slippage on steep climbs. I'm not sure if this is a matter of me being too heavy and weighting the back wheel too much, or what. I'm running a road triple...

    Best tires for Silvio?

Just tell him if it wasn't for bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all! Mark

Sofrider arived an hour ago, YES!

Doug, the bushing in the picture is the one where the TFT attaches to the stem. That's the big bushing. Mark

    Best tires for Silvio?

Jack, I've run Gatorskins for quite awhile on different bikes and never had sidewall issues. I think they're a pretty robust tire. I did get a flat the other day, but it was a shard of brown glass that would have flatted just about anything. I like them real well. Mark

    Whistling a Happy Tune

It's not so much that I'm unfit, but not at the fitness level I would like. I like to go pretty hard, but I don't have the cardio fitness I need to ride at the level I would like for any extended periods of time. Especially when the road gains elevation in serious increments. ;) I'm also...

That's cheap enough. Out of curiosity, did the tensioning/truing take care of the problem? Mark
