WTB Mountain Road Bars on Silvio!!

Brian, I hear what you're saying. I just question which is your bigger advantage, the hand angle, or the bar width? I am going to take a 46 cm bar and attempt to bend the drops out, like what you have, but keep the narrower profile bar. I find that as I meld with the bike, I don't need that...

    Bike pumps

I modified a Camelback to hang on the back of my seat. It solves many problems, water totage, tool hauling and the aforementioned pump. Mark

    Suspension and Ride

I'll vouch for the C-Dale, it rides pretty darned good. You notice the stiff rearend, but not adversely. Mark

Many Faces of the Red Bike

I believe wheel hop is the word the layman would look for. I understand what you're saying, but can't imagine it in practice, not on a bicycle. John says he recalls it happening, so I have to believe. After all, I drank the Kool-Aid    Mark

    Avatars

Probably alright for the volume of traffic right now. I frequent some forums that are huge and require more moderators to keep things civil and weed out troublemakers. Brian seems to do well with his forum and just a couple people helping him. I think you're good on this one. Thanks for...

    Finding a donor bike

That's cheap enough... What did that weigh after you got it built up? That's my only source of complaint is the weight of these inexpensive bikes. Even my Pacific, which is aluminum, is made of such thick tubing that it still weighs more than a high quality steel bike. Mark

Many Faces of the Red Bike

That is a nice looking bike. I sure wouldn't mind taking that one around the block. John, what do you mean by "tramp" and "kick"? I'm not familiar with those terms in the context of cycling . Mark

    My Ultegra Triple equipped Silvio

John, I looked up the amendments you made to your Silvio info pages. I'm confused, which is normal, but Brian put a triple on his bike with no issues. Did Doug run into problems on his Campy build? Mark

WTB Mountain Road Bars on Silvio!!

I have a 46 cm bar I was planning to use when I get my Silvio. I was playing around with it last night and think definitely that last two inches of the drop can be chopped off. I'm going to try bending some old bars, too and see if I can't come up with something like what Brian has, but not...

    Silvio Frame Weight

He posted on his website 5.4 pounds, but I still say that weight is skewed. I saw the head badge in at least three of the pictures.... ;) Mark

    Finding a donor bike

You get sub 300 you should be alright, especially with a quality 26" mtb frame and wheels. Those are pretty bulletproof, you can beat them to death off road, withstanding jumps and stuff... They'll stand up just fine to what you're doing. For road riding (assuming you are riding road), you...
