    Finding a donor bike

Truthfully, I had just about as much fun rounding up the donor frame and building my bike as I do riding it. I hit all the local thrift stores, as I have seen y-frame mountain bikes in there before. Of course, when I actually want to buy one, there isn't one to be had. The thing that...

    Sofrider V1 soon to arive

I saw that posting not long after I ordered my conversion. I'm not unhappy about building it from the ground up, though. It's fun, no matter what. Mark

    Silvio Prototype I

I like it. I like it a lot. If it were mine.... I'd set up a pair of Shimano barcons on Paul Thumbies. Run 'em in friction mode. Cheaper than going all the way with STI OR Campy. I bet it would be a lot easier to shift on the fly than it is now. Mark

WTB Mountain Road Bars on Silvio!!

I didn't consider the armrest function, almost like aero bars, huh? For cutting bars like that, I like to score it with a tubing cutter, so you get a nice line to follow. Mark

WTB Mountain Road Bars on Silvio!!

Brian, Those look darned good! I wonder why a person couldn't chop off that 2-3 inches coming off the drop? Doesn't seem like you would need it and in fact, it looks kind of out of place. Mark

    Silly question / suggestion

That's what I'm talking about! Yeah, that looks good and more stuff for roadies to make fun of us about, but who cares? Mark

    Silly question / suggestion

Looking at this picture I stole from Nanda: It looks to me like there is absolutely nothing to keep a person from putting the lever end of the QR in from the drive side, except tradition, of course. But, done this way, it would certainly make it easier to remove the wheel, you wouldn't have...

    SoCal Riders

Jack, I'm actually working on that. Thinking of hosting it at my house and doing a local ride out here. I am considering a couple routes, one more challenging than the other. I'm currently recruiting a ride leader for the easier route. Both rides will start out together so we can socialize...

John, That looks pretty cool. How does it ride with that handebar setup? Love the downtube shifters on the riser! Mark

    Mark's Bike

You know.... When I first started riding the bike and my jaunts were taking me farther and farther from home, I just wanted to be able to carry water. Those bosses were there and I didn't want to fuss with rounding up nylok nuts and such, so I threw the cage on right there. Of course, I had...

    Mark's Bike

My bike is very much a work in progress. It began life as a Pacific Mtb that was rescued from a police auction. It had seen it's better days. Apparently, somewhere along the line, somebody had removed the 26 " fork and front wheel, then replaced them with 24". The fork weighed a metric...
